Exeter away on a Bank Holiday Monday? We'd turned the tide by then and had Bully and Co playing. The Chapmans were Division 3 weren't they as Little was in charge at the start of the Division 4 season?
Definitely Div 4. There was a 'special' from Wolves.

Perhaps Sammy had gone but Cavan and Campbell remained? That would make the feat less unique! Would Little have picked Cavan though? EDIT: would have been Turner by the Bank Holidays

Slightly before my time but seems Sammy did one right on the eve of the 86/87 season, presumably as it looked like we were going bust.

Maris Verpakovskis. Had him on trial ahead of 03/04.

Couldn't remember his name but knew he was Latvian and had played when Pahars was doing bits for Southampton. Found his name in this article predicting break out Euro 2004 Championships for him along with the lesser known Ibrahimovic, Sneijder and Deco's.

Yep, we had him and Kris Boyd. Verpakovskis played against Boavista (don't anyone dare make that "joke", it wasn't funny nearly 20 years ago).

DJ said he'd come back for Boyd. Never called him back. Shocking behaviour (I'm glad he didn't tbf, I saw Kris Boyd play many a time and I would never have wanted him here at any stage).

He very much believed in giving youth its chance and was again the chosen man following Bill McGarry’s unhappy 61-day spell second spell in charge in the autumn of 1985.

This time, he stayed for what remained of the Third Division season and was disappointed to be dismissed in favour of Little shortly before life at the League basement kicked off the following August.

Manuel Thetis is a weird one.

Played for Ipswich when they were a really good Championship side, they got him off Sevilla, he'd played for Marseille too. Didn't play every game but often enough. Looked alright. They went up, he was surplus, we decided to have a punt on loan. How wrong can it go.

Uneventful debut at home to Burnley (we won 1-0, we weren't very good, they were worse) followed up by possibly the worst centre half performance I have ever seen at any level away at Portsmouth. Claridge hat trick inside half an hour. Truly dreadful. Like watching peak Zlatan against Ethan Ebanks-Landell. Then played in a dismal away defeat at Gillingham. We sent him back inside about three weeks of signing him.

No action for Ipswich, signed for Sheff Utd on loan later in the season. One sub appearance, lost 4-1 at.....Gillingham.

Never played again. I don't just mean for Sheff Utd or Ipswich, as in never played again, for anyone. He was still only 29.

Absolutely bizarre stuff.
