Ex-Wolf Watch

The decision not to sign Vitinha would have made more sense if we had brought in another CM who could have developed as a replacement for Moutinho or Neves. We clearly had money as we bid for Sanches and Botman and had Sanches come it wouldn’t have made sense to sign Vitinha as well. The big mistake was not signing anyone for CM and the fact Vitinha has excelled only emphasises that.
I wonder if we did really bid for those players, or indeed if we made bids knowing they wouldn't go through. Much like what i think we are doing with Nunes now, i struggle to believe anything is genuine lately.

Edit: I posted this before seeing this was discussed.

Newcastle had a fee agreed for Botman didn’t they? Then Lille shifted the asking price up.

Newcastle have infinite money but the rules mean they can’t spend it.

They also can’t look like soft touches or everyone will have their pants down forever. If Lille (or any club) want to be dicks then they will walk away and get someone else.

That’s what I read. Agreed £30m and then Lille changed their mind and wanted 35

Isn’t that what they did to us last summer? Rings a bell, at least…

As we can only send them 3 players and 2 are already there then they probably need someone to do a proper recruitment job rather than just be a plant

I didn’t realise Thelwell was at Everton. I thought he was still in America. Impressive that I managed to miss that.

Jed Wallace close to signing for Albion

Destroying that Molineux legacy that he'd built up...

You do wonder who advises players sometimes. Maybe he doesn't care because Albion will pay him more than Millwall are offering and if it doesn't work out he'll just move on, but what kind of attacking, goalscoring midfielder thinks "yes, I believe Steve Bruce is the man to get the best out of me at this stage of my career".

The glory days of 2015/16 and Ken describing him as about four entirely different types of player over the course of the season, and he was actually none of them.

Michael Ihiekwe to Sheff Wed, who in turn have failed to agree terms with Nathaniel Mendez-Laing so he's back to being a free agent.

Benik Afobe will be playing Champions League football next season with Club Brugge.

Bright Enobakhare was released by Hapoel Jerusalem back in April for missing training and drink driving.
