Since threads appear to be largely content free at present :)stirthepot:), this might be a good time to weigh in with my first 2p.

I’ve been lurking since Black Sunday, arriving after searching for anyone equally eviscerated to share my pain. (Google is your friend there: even though the other place is busier, it’s lower ranked.) Hung around for a week to take a moron count before registering, then registered anyway on the assumption that the managing shenenigans thread will be the exception that proves the rule. (Anyway, the other place is a bit of a zoo, isn’t it?)

Unlike those of you less grizzled or follically challenged, I can recall a time when a top-six top-flight finish was a reasonable expectation; putting seven past Chelsea; an ugly Tyke beating his even uglier brother’s outfit almost single handed (‘Canny Kenny Canes ’Castle’ crowed the Pink of Hibbitt’s foursome) and a curly-headed chunky captain lifting a cup at Wembley. A time before Andy Gray was a dickhead. Whether that makes what’s happened since easier or harder to swallow than if my baptism had been against Aldershot in Division 4, I don’t know.

What I do know is that for the past six or so years, perhaps for the first time since Bill McGarry, my team has had a manager whose name I didn’t have to be embarrassed about revealing when asked and who at long last got us back where we belong and (just about) kept us there. It’s just a crying shame he couldn’t manage to kick on from that.

As for who’s next, well, diverting and amusing though speculation in this forum may be, is it really worth worrying about? Does it even matter?* Down in the basement, all you need are players who can pass the ball to someone on their own side and direct it between the posts going forward, and not get skinned when defending. The three teams whose players are worst at that go down. EZ game.:icon_cool:

Because anyone available who meets M&M’s stated criteria is likely to be a knob, whoever he is, perhaps it's better to wait until he’s appointed and cocks it up, then really rip into him.:icon_evil:

*Mind you, Dave Jones? I threw up in my mouth a little bit when I read that.

Greetings, a very welcome post to break from the madness of speculation and hearsay that's been all consuming for the past week!

this is impressive, no arguing, terrible grammar or ridiculous suggestions of who our manager should be....thats the cleverest spam bot post I have ever seen! I don't get what it is selling though as there is no where to click?

:)

Sorry, I don't think he does need to do that. First, it is grassing. Second, it is grassing on a mate. Encouraging the first is bad enough but suggesting the second is in really poor taste.

Blimey, this is getting lively. I only went to watch Whitechapel!

Thanks for all the welcomes.

Well, now you mention it, a bulk order of Viagra is probably our best chance of staying up this year.

You'd be the resident conspiracy theorist, then, Frank? Now you're going to have to explain to me who Waggy is. (In this forum, obv. :)) Should I be inspired or insulted?

See above. Seriously, though, was the avatar in this forum? I liked it too but, if so, I'd better Google me up another.

Welcome. You have a way with words. But you can spell so you're not Waggy.
