Fixture Changes Thread

Liverpool at home at the end of Jan on a Thursday night on BT

Sun 8th Dec - Brighton away 4.30
Sun 29th Dec - Liverpool away 4.30

That's a pain - up for the Sheff Utd game & staying over (Sunday trains from down here are sparse), but need to go back on the Monday as ndorset is travelling with me & he needs to be back the next day,

We don't have a Thursday Europa game that week so it could be moved to the Wednesday.

If it was me alone probably no more expensive to stay for the Tuesday as well (would always have to stay on the Wednesday as an evening match & no trains will let me see the match & get home).

Probably another one I will need to offer the seat up for or sell back to the club.

Going to be a struggle to get a January Spain trip in for the lads this season

There’s a winter break this year isn’t there?

To play City on 27th and then Liverpool away less than two days later is absolutely ridiculous. We will have to play two different teams (or near enough)

Mid Feb for us I think. In between the Leicester and Norwich games (no game in between and it isn't an FA Cup weekend)

This is getting too complicated for me now!

If this goes on then might well be cheaper to move up to the Wolverhampton area or Redwings award me a personal guaranted room (with a blue plaque)

Under 48 hours between the City and Liverpool games basically breaks the fucking rules.

Why the hell haven't we complained and said no?

Perhaps we did, but as there is only a 3 hours difference from the original schedule I'd imagine we'd be told to do one

48 hours vs 45 is a significant percentage of difference. Plus we are playing the two top teams in the league in that period. Its a fucking joke, and completely caused by Amazon moving our game to the 27th. The League should be telling them that is unacceptable scheduling or insisting that the Liverpool game moves 24 hours in response to it.

It's a joke and totally fucking unfair.

That will be when we go then I reckon. Be much needed too

Decent rest between Norwich and City. Concentrate on 4 points from those 2 and write off Liverpool (well not write it off, but certainly rotate WBs, forwards, and possibly midfield depending on what system we’re playing). We would likely lose regardless so don’t waste resources on it when we’ve been fucked over my the TV scheduling

Something tells me Nuno won't share your approach...

Does it break the rules? This has happened before I think?
I believe it is an understanding between clubs and the PL/FA/EFL to allow clubs the option to have more than 48 hours between games. Thursday Europa teams automatically have their games moved and for instances outside that the clubs can request a move but governing bodies can reject it. Unfortunately TV companies paying millions hold a lot of power. Wouldnt be an issue if the PL reduced the amount of games played over Christmas though. No need for 3 games between Boxing Day and New Year.

At least it isnt the 50's and we have to play Christmas Day and Boxing Day

Didn't we play back to back days over Xmas in about '92? My memory says we lost away to Tranmere and drew at home in a dull game the day afterwards

Quick check

In 1992

19th December Lost 2-1 v Tranmere (a)
26th December Lost 2-1 v Newcastle (a) (This game was ace, a Newcastle fan jumped out of the top tier of stand and dived into the away end, a few metres away from me..after 5 mins the Wolves fans gave a battered and bruised Geordie to the police)
28th December Drew 0-0 v Bristol City (h)

I think we did it in the mid-late 80s? Hereford being one of the games I think?
