Football Support and Matchday Habits

I find the whole, leave or don't watch because we are leaving pretty amazing. It's obviously horrible to see and hurts but I could never do that. in fact I find that a bit childish.

I can see the point if there are just a few minutes left and you'd sooner get a pint in the bar quicker or beat some of the traffic to get home. Two goals in injury time once against Sheffield United to get a point is enough for me to hold onto the hope that we may get something out of the game though. If there is anything riding on the game for example there just being a goal between the sides then I don't understand the point of leaving early. Would anybody leave the cinema before the film finishes?

You missed out then trev going to away games in the fourth and third with the hatherton wolves was apart from the seventies my favourite time supporting the lads. Great drinking days everyone seemed to know one another where ever you went and bully was awesome to watch. Have to say I enjoyed last season especially the away days.

Yeah i know, young family, leaving at 7am on a Saturday to work till 12, getting home after 6pm pissed,(no mobile phones in those days) it takes it's toll.
Every cloud has a silver lining though, toddlers grow up and want to go to the match so the whole cycle begins again.
Agree with last season too, best season since the Championship winning one.

Edit: I never leave a game before the final whistle.

During the dark days there were four of us who went to nearly every game home or away. At away games there was often more Wolves fans than home fans, as many Wolves fans said they would not step inside Molineux again as long as the Bhatti's (excuse my language) were in charge. So many of them went away instead. We enjoyed the days out, though as often as not they ended in defeat, but while it was sad to see the state the club was in, it showed that even when bottom of division three and getting hammered most weeks, we still had an amazing away support.

I used to leave at 2 down with 5 mins to go, but then Sheff Utd happened and now it's 3 down. Left Forest at home after their third this season.

If I've got Mini Langers, I'll leave with about 2 minutes of stoppage time left and watch the final seconds in the foyer to avoid the mad rush which he really doesn't like. If I've not got him with me, I never leave before the end. The only exception was the Oldham FA cup debacle last season when I was offered a lift with 5 minutes to go. It was either accept and miss those 5 minutes or stay til the end and chance the trains.

Indeed owdill, Wolves fans did not have a great reputation back then. Everyone talks about Scarborough, but there were a few other games where there was trouble. Exeter and Halifax spring to mind.

I left at 2-1 down to Bournemouth and managed to catch the early train home, which is the first time I can ever remember doing it. I've watched loads of 1st half goals in the concourse.

The day out to me is more important than the game, so what is served on the pitch is pretty irrelevant to some extent. I would get far too much ear ache about going out on the piss with my mates on a Saturday if the football wasn't on.

I left a match early once. We were losing 6-0 at home to Liverpool. Alun Evans, the first £100,000 teenager, scored twice. The infamous Alan Bosworth was in goal. He wasn't exactly a fan's favourite.

When you live a distance from Wolverhampton, it is easy to get distracted away from Wolves. I did when I lived in London, had to work all hours and there was no such thing as the internet. I guess it was made worse as I was used to turning up and going through the turnstiles. All this getting a ticket and supporter numbers is far too much hassle.

Used to be 8 of us, all season ticket holders from the mid 80's to mid 90's
Except for me, none of those ever go now and this isnt down to any small children to look after.
They just dont care, dont even look for the results or know the players.
That said, ive never attended one premier league match weve played, watched em on the tv but i cant stand
how football changes in the Premier league (cateogrised matches and all that shit) and i dont feel the club
paticularly needs me then anyway....different debate though.

I once had a go at my mate (in jest) as we were late getting to Molineux for a match against Ipswich. On way heard we had gone 1 down. As we were making our way to our seat we went 2-0 down.


It's not to rush back to the pub or home (which I cannot remember ever doing) that I leave early when we are losing it is just that we are losing and I hate seeing us lose. I don't do it every time and even stopped to the end v Southampton when they spanked us. So I'm not entirely childish

I used to never leave early, in fact I did just the opposite. I would stay behind for 15 minutes, and then would have an easy exit from the ground.
