Footballing Myths

That's debatable, he was in big trouble prior to that cup run and talk was that he was on the way out.
It’s widely reported that board recognised the work he had done in setting up the academy and were prepared to give more time.

Martin Edwards is hardly likely to say if they'd lost that game he'd have sacked the most successful manager in British club history.

Plus enjoyment vs quality. Not necessarily the same thing.

Yeah this is it for me, as I've got older the WCs have become more about nostalgia to me. I utterly loved the South Africa 2010 World Cup despite being able to see the football was appalling, but it was the fact there was a mid-afternoon game to watch in the staff room at work, that I fondly remember it.

For me, the entertainment of the group stages when there are 3 games on a day is a superb experience as a TV fan, and not only that but my missus wants to watch them or at least have them on in the house as has been drawn in by the coverage, sweepstakes, sticker books and merch everywhere.

By the time the knockouts start you've seen every team and begun to get favourites etc. That feeling that every World Cup reminds me of Italy 90 when I was 8, and watching The England games at mine and then cycling to my Nana's to watch the Scotland games with her, can't be matched on an emotional level.

I think the amount of football on tele has had an impact on the novelty of the World Cup. Go back to the first one I can properly remember in '82 then the only live games on tele outside of it were some England Internationals, European Finals and the Cup Final. Everything else was just highlights. Obviously very different now

The amount of information readily available too, I can find out exactly what Alexandr Buksa has been up to this season in a matter of clicks.

20-30 years ago I'd have had no idea who he is

1970 World cup I found very exciting, tbf I was only 12 and it was the first one I watched (no memories of 66 unfortunately). Also as someone mentioned earlier the only live games on TV then were internationals and cup finals

Top quality footballers make top quality managers (he may have been an icon for your club but that doesn't mean he'll be a top manager)

Johnson only wanted £20k and weekly access to see Risdale's fish tank?
Ah, the fish tank. The same company that supplied the fish tank to lufc also supplied similar to the Imperial PH. The Imperial's weekly rental was higher than lufc's.

Wolves fans will always cut players plenty of slack if they try their hardest, week in week out.

Wolves fans will always support local young players who've come through the youth system above others.

Wolves played really attractive, exciting football under Nuno until this season.

Matt Doherty (career high: 4 league goals) is a goalscoring freak of a defender.

This summers transfers are embargoed as we still haven't officially sold Berra

Liverpool fans Man City bought their success we did things in a far more organic way.
Allison £66.8m, VVD £75m, Mane £34, Salah £36m, Firmino £29m, Winjaldum £25m, Henderson £20m.
Including other transfers the assembling of the title and CL winning squad exceeds way over £300m not organic at all in fact on TAA from their academy has played regular football in both those campaigns.
