Macron looks like he'll win with 58% of the vote.

That means 42% voted for a far right candidate?

France flirts with a far right leader but then pulls back. Happened last time out. Closest call was under Chirac when Le Pen Senior won the first round before France woke up.

Le Pen junior has done quite a good job of sanitising the image of her Party (but it bubbles under the surface) so people may vote for her when presented with a straight choice of Macron/MLP

Yep 20 years ago since her old man made the break through and got to final stage, do well in the rural and poor areas of France but haven't really pushed on, still significant percentage who when it comes to the crunch will say anyone but them.
Mind you way world is who knows how things will pan out next time
