Fulham 0-1 Wolves: Verdict Thread

He's showing glimpses of his quality now he is out of the limelight a bit. Lots more to come from him next season I reckon.
And this is where I will credit the use of Jose. It has took the pressure off the lad.

Away from our performance...confused by Fulham's set up. For a must win game they sat deep and had 1 out ball, to Robinson. When we went to the 3 we got on top of that.
If they did get space they just did an impression of us at our worst and went sideways and backwards. A lack of urgency from a team that required some, well, urgency.

Well, it will be a relaxing Saturday, watching the scores come in, knowing we have three points in the bag. I will sleep soundly tonight. My Wolves shirt will be worn tomorrow, no matter how cold it is.

Not even going to try to pretend we were good tonight, we weren't. It was a low quality game and we pinched it...but of course we should have been 1-0 up an hour previously. That's a scandalous decision. No way you can tell me that's definitively offside, absolute nonsense. Please get this sorted out over the summer because it's turning people away from the game.

While we weren't good we did shade the game overall, Fulham were dire given their circumstances. They needed to win this and barely laid a glove on us.

Patricio: Very very little to do but looked safe.

Semedo: A good game. No idea what Joe Cole was blithering on about at HT, he rarely looked troubled by Robinson, even less so once we moved to 3-5-2.

Ait-Nouri: The preconception about him is weird, I personally think at present he's fine defensively (Leicester away was poor but generally he's rarely been shown up) but he should be showing more endeavour going forward, he has the ability to beat players and cross, do it then. No issues though tonight.

Coady: Can people now please stop wetting themselves every time we're about to face Mitrovic. Yes he gave us a doing over a few years ago, that was then, this is now. Coads did fine.

Saiss: A much better game than Monday, very good in the air in particular tonight.

Neves: Found himself in some odd areas at times but had a decent match.

Dendoncker: I'm not sure he'll ever properly settle down into a position, it's all a bit strange. No complaints on the evening and kudos for switching mid-game.

Neto: Sadly no real impact and then injured, hopefully nothing too bad.

Podence: Always looking to get involved and should have been a good assist. As it is, he's ended up with nothing. Wouldn't be playing if we weren't right down to the bare bones, he isn't anything like fully fit.

Adama: Much like Monday...struggled to get involved for the most part but there's one wow moment. Of course the keeper should have the shot, but give him a problem to solve. Please kick on now for the final few weeks.

José: For him this was pretty good. Some better hold up play, some good defensive headers and he should be heading back to Wolves tonight with a goal. It's nothing like good enough, he still doesn't get anything like involved enough but we're working from a very low starting point.

Moutinho: Standard Joao. A couple of times he broke up play with a cheap free kick...if only we'd had him on Monday.

MGW: I know he has his detractors but tonight he picked the ball up in good areas and played a key part in the goal. Promising. Let's see what he can do if given the chance in the final few games.

Fabio: Lovely pass for the goal, fantastic weight on it. Looking forward to seeing him continue to develop, none of this has been ideal (price tag, more game time than we wanted to give him) but it's getting better and better.

The talk of relegation was always utter nonsense, it can definitively be put to bed now and we can all have a good weekend.

After Monday's team selection, replicated by tonights the Neto injury tells you a lot about how Nuno sees players. Kilman is toast and Vitinha and Otasowie aren't trusted. He still wants to plays 3 at the back, but won't if he can't get 2 of Donck/Moutinho/Neves in midfield.

2 poor sides, the slightly better one won. I've never bought into the relegation talk but even the most Negative Nigel couldn't talk themselves into that now so lets find out about some players and how they fit certain formations and use the next 7 games productively

Well getting up at 5am (Oz time) to watch that is 2 hours I won't ever get back.

Job done in putting any relegation fears out of the window (not as if they were really there), but overall a very turgid performance which we've seen so often this season.

Surely we can now use the remaining 7 games to see what Fabio, Vitinha, MGW, Hoever, RAN, Otasowie etc can do.

Is Podence unfit? Or is Podence largely rubbish?

I don’t think tonight was the game to judge individual performances (because everyone on either side was pretty average) but I’m not entirely sure I’ve seen Podence do anything of note for a very long time time.

Shows for it and runs around a bit - granted - but not convinced he’s very effective.

Not entirely sure I/Nuno/him knows where best to play him, either.

He's still carrying an injury but he's needed out there.

Didn't think Podence was that bad, his cross for the first 'goal' was pin point

The most upset I have ever been with var. We have had decisions before that I didn't like, but you could always accept that the rules were followed properly. Not this time, there is absolutely no way anyone can say with 100% confidence that Podence was offside. So the goal should stand. Now I understand better those of you who say that var has sucked your enjoyment from the game.

A keeper should never be beaten at their near post, but that ball was hit HARD.

It was a poor game, but to be expected when we have so many players who are either carrying injuries, still learning, out of touch, or just not good enough.

For those of you that want to re-live the glory of the game...

Low quality game from both sides but a welcome 3 points.

Only saw the disallowed goal replay a couple of times, and looked a harsh decision, but will have another look in the morning in case it's just gold and black specs. Felt sorry for Pod and Jose as it was well-worked.

We look in a rut attacking-wise, I'd be inclined to give Vitinha, MGW and Fabio more minutes now, as I think they're less caught up in their heads like the rest of the team. Morgan's touch, Fabio's vision and execution and a nice, instinctive finish from Adama almost made up for the tedious 90 mins that preceded it...

Hope the news is positive on Pedro, tbh he didn't look right even before Robinson slammed into him. Properly had his arse in his hand and cut a frustrated figure.

The game didn't endear me to Parker much either, he looks a right moaning spiv, and I also wasn't impressed with Kongolo and Robinson (who I agree looks a player) leaving a bit in on challenges too often.

I also was pleased to see a shithouse streak in our Fabio, wiping out Tete a few minutes after he'd knocked him into the hoardings, with the innocent look on his face after...we've missed that edge since Jota went

Willian pony overall and I hope we don’t sign him. But he’s still better than Mitrovich 👎🏻

Adama has answered a post-match interview question with “this is the way”. Someone will meme it, I’m sure.

Now that it's morning I do have a different feeling about the game, it was grim watching but winning is winning.

I will do my usual though of pointing out that the keeper shouldn't have saved that shot just because it was at the near post. He will be disappointed but he had the right angle and it's been hit with tremendous power from an unlikely angle, onto what is likely his weaker side. I think I get wound up by that more as it was Hoddle saying it.
