General Wolves News

Unfortunately I can see him getting games for the Ivory Coast. Plenty capable.
Shouldn't this be a good thing?

Didn't seem like people were upset about Coady playing for England...

He probably won’t go to the African cup of nations with England though.

(Ie, missing wolves games)

That's true, but it's still an honor for him to be selected by a nation.

I don't know, the ambivalence toward international football just doesn't make sense to me, but accept that is largely a cultural thing.

I semi care about England and fully care if a Wolves player is in the squad + tournaments. I don't care about any other side and only semi care with a Wolves player is in the squad. I'd rather have no players in an International team and Nuno gets a week on the training pitch with them and they can have a few days away than then playing for an international side

International football is like the FA Cup to me now, doesn’t carry a fraction of the weight or importance it used to. Was chuffed for Coady getting capped, a goal and the captaincy as he fully deserved it but it felt nothing like Bully coming on against Scotland and scoring.

Under Southgate Coady may play one in three. Boly however could play every game. And we have no Coady replacement

I agree with the sentiments - for me, everything in football is seen through a lens of how it links to wolves.

I love seeing our players do well internationally, I’m not really arsed about international football unless our players are involved.

pretty much every other game I watch is with a thought on whether they can challenge us for our aims, or whether there is a player we’ve been tenuously linked with.

football is all about Wolves.

International football is a young man's game, i.e. for kids. Most adults nowadays couldn't give a toss outside of the World Cup and Euros. And even then the habit of bottling it at those has eaten away at everyone's enthusiasm for them.

The England manager's job needs a bold hand to pick what's best for the team and not pander to players from the big clubs.

I think a lot of it due to caps as well these days. 30 years ago it was an honour to get called up for your country and a player making his debut was big news, these days caps are thrown around like confetti which takes the importance off international recognition. In my eyes anyway.

Very similar to the FA Cup, back in the day the finals were a whole day affair, starting in the morning, World of Sport, Superstars etc it was the highlight of the calendar, now it's something I have on in the background at best.

Exactly. I used to love watching the FA Cup Final day, it was magic. The Spurs v Coventry and Liverpool v Wimbledon games are burned in my memory forever, yet I couldn’t tell you who played four years ago. I think the only semi final (which have also been wrecked) I’ve watched in the last ten years was ours.

Random one which I didn’t know where to put. My subscription on the athletic has ended. I’m sure I saw on here something about getting a reduced rate for the next year? Anyone got an tips?

Neto joins Neves, Rui, Mout and Semedo in the full Portugal squad.

Decent week for the lad

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but couldn't think where else to put it!

Love the look of it, think I could be tempted for my new house when I move in December.

Interview with Maximilian on the Beeb, primarily about the end of FA funding for futsal:

Says he is open to an international call up from either Russia or the Ukraine.
