General Wolves News

Thought this was a good piece. Although i've been a critic of FS because he was so lightweight, he's proven a lot of people wrong, including me. And interesting we have only paid 8m so far for him.
Fair play to the lad..

Installments for players is very common I thought?
Yep, very very rare you buy a player in 1 payment. Buying a player out of his contract the only way that really happens. See Partey to Arsenal as an example and the only way we could have signed Dias from Benfica (obviously we couldn't do that)

I thought it would have been more than 8m, particularly as Porto were/are skint.
No idea why the link i put on won't come up. I'm having big problems with the site recently.
It's on BT.com anyway.

All Porto needed was an outgoing on the sheet. The total we pay eventually they can show straight away so it got them inline with UEFA FFP

I don't think it's just FFP they are worried about. Paying the bills would be more pressing for them, hence me thinking that they would need more then 8m up front.

They are not that skint. When Porto sell quickly its because they have not received as much prize money as expected (generally from CL games or dropping into the EL), so they have to balance the books to stop UEFA fining or banning them. Its how we got Neves, as they needed his sale figure on the sheet before the end of the month to stop UEFA doing them

116.2 million euro loss after tax in 2019/2020 season for Porto. That is not chump change.

In football terms they are not skint. Not about to have the electric cut off.
They have got some hefty prize money coming their way this year from the CL. They will also move on a few players buts it's never a case of they need the full transfer fee in one go.

Doubt they just dropped £80m in their bank. Probably agreed no add ons and more in “guaranteed money”. Cash flow is largely irrelevant at top clubs, it’s what the books say. If they have cash flow issues thet just do those dodgy pay day loans guAranteed against the future TV money.

I think they did, United's cash reserves took a massive hit in the season when the transfer went through.

Maguire was £80m in one payment and £5m in add ons. Leicester played a blinder on that one

Yep they demanded it all up front or no deal. Man Utd were desperate for a CB.

He is a trusted member of the squad. His role for Belgium is generally different to what he is asked to do here. Plus he can cover defence, so no shock at all he is in the squad. Won't be starting games for them but they generally know what they are getting from him.

He's been poor for a while but what Kenny says. He's given relatively simple tasks when he starts for them which he does well. First half yesterday he was fine in that sense (though a bit safe in possession as we know)

Don’t like conspiracy theories but the PL do nothing to help stop them.
All 3 decisions were given in games we lost by 1 goal.

Appalling stat 29/37 games this season we’ve not scored in the first half failure to register a goal before halftime Sunday will break an all time PL record.
The more I look at I’m staggered at how we’ve managed to reach 45 points.
