Good people of Britain...........PANIC

We've got our Friday night 5aside though only 4 aside tonight. Its indoors but there's no air con in there so will be more of a sweatfest than normal

Capitalism has destroyed the planet. And it doesn't care. The rich are happy hoarding their wealth while the planet ever more quickly dies.

A Red Weather warning due to forecasted extreme heat has now been issued for the Midlands on Monday and Tuesday of next week.

I'm due to travel to London on Monday evening...interesting to see if the trains will actually be running by that point!

Under selling 38 being simply Sunny there BBC.

I'm still struggling to understand why we need a warning for weather that thousands of people pay to go abroad to experience every year. This would just be a normal summer around the Med., wouldn't it?

"But it's a different heat in Britain compared to abroad..."

If you stay in an apartment in Spain then it won't be like sitting in a terraced house in England.

Aye, but there are millions who don't and some of those people won't for medical reasons. Plus, if people do what they'd normally do it may be dangerous in this heat, if they aren't used to it.

Look at the difference in the amount of air conditioning available. Plus on holiday it often involves relaxing round a pool with a cool beer rather than sweltering in an office.

Yes. They don’t have tons of fibre glass everywhere, carpet, underlay etc. as they aren’t designed to insulate the house when it’s -2 degrees

Incidentally you'll probably see a load of gammony twats on Twitter etc saying "it was hot in 1976 and I survived so what's the problem".

Except it's estimated that during that heatwave there was an increase of around 20% in excess deaths, which doesn't sound like a great old time that we should look back wistfully on.

It was hot in '76, you snowflakes today.............

I quite like the warm weather, not to paddy levels, but am still shocked to see people out going for a run at 2pm on these hot days.
People will be tempted to make the most of it without realising the heat etc will worsen & have a significant impact. The majority won't even take simple steps like increase water intake for example.
Kids, the elderly and those with health issues do need encouragement to take preventative steps. Indeed as th heat is unusual, we all do.
I'm confused by people being confused about reasonable public health advice for all of us to be proactive in taking care of ourselves?
