I agree with much of the criticism of Lage and the club in general lately, not so much the vitriol, and I think some people are just winding themselves up a bit now

It's good to see patterns, look at possible scenarios and sustainability of our play etc, but it's surely better to keep criticism proportionate?

Bruno may well be the wrong man, we may very well struggle with him at the helm next season and it may be the start of a huge decline, but what's to be gained acting almost as if it's actually already happened? We all know football isn't quite that predictable
Balanced view, don't get me wrong the people on here who are very anti Bruno, are entitled to their pov, think all of them go to every match so have much more invested than I do.
Think it's harsh to suggest we've been crap and horrible to watch the whole season, we've had odd games and periods where we've played some nice stuff mixed in with the poor stuff, I agree Lage has been woeful for a while now and I'm not convinced he can get the best out of the squad going forward, but I do think some of the criticism has been ott (dons crash helmet)

Please immediately give this man a load of money to spend, he is clearly an amazing manager.

I honestly think he’s done so I wouldn’t worry. It feels like they all know it too

I really hope you’re right but I think he’ll still be here. Probably get the bullet around Xmas as when we’re comfortably in the bottom 3

Some deluded fans on there! FML
There seems to a large percentage of people who see finishing 8th / not being supported adequately in the market as the end of any discussion. I don't see how you can look beyond the danger signs of the last few months, but of a poll of nearly 2000 people it would appear that's a minority view. I'm not full Bruno out myself, although in a binary yes/no poll I voted no, but equally I don't think you can disregard the performances of the last 2 months or so and just say look at the league and lack of recruitment

We are at a crossroads. If Fosun back him with cash he may well waste it
and there wont be anymore. If they sack him we will probably end up with another Mendes client and that could go either way. The answer could well be to look for a new manager from either Forest or Luton. Pity we didn't consider Howe last time around

The people on there saying "he's stuck with Nuno's players and Nuno's system" are deluded.

Semedo, Jonny - both full backs. We have CB's, we have natural wingers, CM's... It's all there, if Bruno was any kind of a competent coach, a back 4 is easily played/switched to.
We have a squad of international footballers and they are telling me that they can only play 1 formation? Horseshit

Welcome to the forum.

I'm not convinced that Howe is any sort of messiah. He's organised Newcastle but not done a great deal more than that. The run that they have had has seen close wins that could have gone either way but fair do's to him as I thought that they looked like certainties for the drop.

Cooper has done well with England, Swansea and Forest so definitely has something about him. I think we all know that the current management team aren't going to be looking in his direction though.

I don't rate Howe personally and wouldn't want him here especially knowing his penchant for spunking large amounts of money on Liverpool reserves. Cooper I agree with and would be great long term appointment but feel as you mention It will be a Mendes client or someone associated with him If (hopefully) Lage gets the boot.

As I posted the other week, we can't really go down the Mendes/Gestifute road unless we pull off a real coup with Sergio Conceicao (and is he really going to leave Porto for us after he just won the league). The cupboard is bare.

According to Transfermarkt the Gestifute clients are:

Nuno
Mourinho
Gattuso
Lage
Sergio Conceicao
Karanka
Rui Faria
Hugo Vicente
Vasco Seabra
Nuno Capucho

Never heard of Vicente or Seabra. Vicente doesn't even have a Wiki page, Seabra seems to bounce around mid/lower table Portuguese teams for not very long with not much success.

Faria stopped working with Mourinho in 2018 and has managed one Qatari club for a year since, out of work now.

Capucho had a few (shit) months with Rio Ave in 2016 but otherwise has just managed a series of Portuguese second division teams.

We all know Karanka, plays even worse football than Lage, awful at Blues and Forest, falls out with players and boards all the time, he got the Granada job until the end of the season a couple of weeks ago.

Gattuso seemed to be ok-ish at Milan and Napoli, got the Fiorentina job last summer but it all got cancelled within a fortnight or so without him taking charge of a game, also seemed close to the Spurs job before Nuno but the fan reaction made Levy reconsider, hasn't worked since.

Conceicao has been Porto manager since 2017. Won two titles and they're going to win it this year too.

Nuno won't come back. Probably wouldn't be a good idea even if he would.

Mourinho isn't going to leave Roma for us.

Pretty much leaves a shortlist of one, at best two if we go down that road!

Gattuso is probably the best of a bad bunch, wouldn't want him here though as he's a twat.

Lage has been found out as tactically inept. The squad needs a refresh and update. The staff need the same. At this rate I wouldn’t be surprised if Nuno rocked up again!

If they keep Lage I think a number of players leave but that gives the opportunity to bring players in. It all looks a bit of a mess at the moment and has done for quite some time, the results causing people to view the issues through blinkers. Our recruitment and our general play hasn’t been good in most respects for over two years.

I have enjoyed the fun but we hit our ceiling two years ago after Torino and Espanol and it’s been in decline since. Neither Nuno or Lage had quality in any depth and for some unfathomable reason, neither corrected the imbalance to enable them to play the style they seemed to favour. Nuno with Traore and Lage with Coady and Hwang. We have been crying out for a proper centre half for a long while and we have been weak in midfield options for the same time. We threaten virtually no one and we scare no one. We are a soft touch on our own pitch most of the time. We have failed to score 16 times this season by my reckoning.

So it is time to say goodbye to a number of our first team. It will be a long slog to stay up next season without some significant new injections of quality.

I still wonder how much truth there may have been in that random Bruno Genasio tweet that appeared a while back, was so random and similar to the early Lage tweets when Nuno leaving wasn't even a thing that there may be something in it. Something is very wrong right now and needs sorting quickly otherwise we are in the shit
