The head coach added: “I’m very happy with him - even now more happy because last week, as you know, it was my birthday and he gave me a box of cookies. He’s a lovely guy and a top professional. I see him at three o’clock, four o’clock in the club recovering, having treatments to be fit. That’s the kind of mentality and competitiveness we want in our squad.”

I just read the article as I thought that bit was a wind up, as if the rest of the comments weren't bad enough.

He wants his players to bring in cookies for him?

Look, the guy hangs around until 4pm. Pure dedication.

Lage's public comments have been ridiculous ever since he threw the West Ham away game. Either garbled nonsense that doesn't make any sense at all or statements that stand up to zero scrutiny.

He's playing the trainer of the year to reward him for buying him cookies and hanging around till 4pm.

What a legend.

I want to know what cookies they were, if they were Maryland cookies then both of them should be sacked and dumped in the sea..

If this is Bruno's reasoning behind Hwang regularly playing then it affirms my 'he needs to go now' standpoint. That's just fucking embarrassing. And here was me for a long time being in the 'give Bruno his own players' camp. I think you can safely say I have realised the error of my ways.

I’m dreaming of the day the statement arrives: “The board would like to thanks Bruno Lage for all he achieved…” It’s not going to happen though is it. They’re going to keep this clown. And there are people out there who, you know, think maybe it’s not a bad idea… FFS :(

Following his reasoning on Hwang, Mary Berry would be a valid target in Brunos eyes

As much as I currently dislike both, when I read this I presumed it was just either failed attempt at humour or it was something that came across differently in the moment in person.

It’s becoming very obvious that Bruno will be here next season as will Hwang.
If he’s given numerous funds then he’ll probably squander it.
I keep saying it to some of our fans who are backing Bruno and blaming a lack of transfer business. Regardless of that you should be able to keep your side well organised and well balanced. In recent weeks we’ve looked an absolute rabble if you going to be pragmatic at least be good at it.
Going to be a case of “told you so” come October to some of our fans.
The boards current way of operating and transfer policy is slowly but gradually nudging is closer to trouble. A flirt with relegation might re-focus some minds. Don’t believe the mantra that going down itself won’t be that bad. Yes it would it be a disaster and every season I don’t have to experience the championship or below is a good one.

I still don't agree with the him getting money narrative (sorry Johnny). He's not getting money, he's getting who he's getting. He plays Hwang because he's a shit manager/he's told to - take your pick, but he's not his player as EP posted earlier. He just didn't say no and I'm not sure he has the power of veto Nuno did because he doesn't have the credit and was always put in to be a yes man
