January 2021 Transfer Window

Giroud for me too if possible. Even on a 6 month deal.

Giroud in a 4231 would make sense. Whether he wants to come here, whether Lampard will want to let him go, and whether Nuno wants him, we'd have to see!

Giroud has been told he needs regular first team football to keep his French place so there is an incentive for him with the Euros coming up. If Chelsea see us as challengers to them we'll have to pay over the odds though.

On a related note there's a bench place up for grabs for a youngster. I've not watched the U23s, but I assume Corbeanu would be in pole position for that?

We'll see how Fabio progresses but don't want to put too much pressure on the lad. Doubt we'll bring any of the loanees back unless desperate. Giroud would be a terrific aquisition but would Lampard allow it and is Nuno the type of manager to more or less guarantee Giroud starting regularly

I’m open to silva being the main striker, and getting someone else in as sub, will be good for his development

Giroud on loan until the end of the season would be brilliant.

Yeah could be a spot for him in the bench - Corbeanu could probably cope OK physically too, strong and quick player. Not so much a striker but the nearest we have to that in the 23s right now.

realistically it has to be three to six months out for Raul even if he gets the best prognosis. So we definitely need to be looking at a striker. Giroud would be good and an 18 month deal may suit him and us.

Cutrone back too perhaps.

Giroud to the end of the season and then we can see where we are with Raul

I'm not sure Chelsea would loan him to us though, I can't really think of anyone else

He'd be in the last 6 months of his contract, so you'd be buying rather than loaning and in all likelihood paying over the odds to do so

I can't see Cutrone coming back after he seemed miserable here...hasn't exactly been glowing in his interviews either.

Was thinking we might recall someone from loan as cover. Mir's the obvious one I think as he's playing at a decent level (Huesca are playing in La Liga for those who haven't been keeping track) albeit in a poor team. Maybe Dadashov, Bonatini? We do have options in that area, at least, albeit not sure any of them legitimately have a future here.

Giroud would be sublime but it doesn't really fit the pattern of business the club does, extraordinary times though.

-edit- longer term maybe the Paulinho links will resurface, although I think they were rubbished in the end? And Andre Silva, obvs 😄

Mir was an 18 month loan, so unlikely to have a recall option in our favour. Bonatini was 2 years so unlikely for the same reason. Cutrone also 18 months, but as they don't seem to want him, could be a theoretical option but one i'd doubt Nuno would want to take. Dadashov has a cruciate injury

Cutrone is rubbish. If we were bringing back a loanee I’d rather see what Mir can do, at least he has the physicality.

Silva looked decent last night. Touch was good, decent movement. This could be the making of him.

Ah, yeah he picked that up after he went didn't he? Completely blanked on that. Well, strike that one off.

I think he's got to the end of December to convince the club he's ready.

The problem Silva has is if he doesn't score in the next few games certain people out there will be questioning him and his price tag he had nothing to do with !

I've already seen some on Twitter saying "this is bad recruitment" in terms of leaving us with only one viable striker now Raul is out. I actually thought Silva's performance last night was better than anything Raul has produced thus far this season - the benefit of the doubt being that Raul was often isolated and hasn't played with the three behind him yet as Silva did.

There was one point he held up the ball against Gabriel and I was very impressed. It was good physicality.
