January 2021 Transfer Window

Maybe not in the isolation of the January transfer window, but this is now the 5th consecutive window in which we've performed OK at best, and our eleven is arguably worse than it was three years ago today, particularly given our tactical confusion. We're still going to be impacted by covid in the summer, so if it's an excuse now, it'll be an excuse then.

We've all known we needed to strengthen defence and midfield for a couple of years, particularly if we want to dominate games as is apparently the plan. The last two windows haven't reflected that.

I didn't expect that issue to be sorted this window, but that doesn't make it not disappointing

I’d agree our recruitment has generally been sub par.

We have needed to stengthen the defence, but we’re not picking from Stearman, Craddock and Berra with Elokobi and Zubar alongside them. A real quality CB and CM puts us in the top 6 question no doubt, but that isn’t going to happen in January is it?

If it not being sorted this window makes you dissapointed, then surely you are going to continuously be disappointed as your expectations are wildly unrealistic.
I didn’t hear Liverpool being mentioned once yesterday after they signed a couple of defenders, though.
They’ve signed some randomer from the championship and some bloke from Schalke who I know nothing about because their 3 CBs are all out for the season and they have zero. Phillips and Williams wouldn’t get in teams in the championship but they are playing for PL title contenders.

Yeah we don't NEED anyone else.

Upgrades would be nice, but that goes for every other team in the league too.

With the change in rules, I'd like us to look in the Championship occasionally. I don't watch much any more, long may that continue, but the Maddison's and Justin's must still be there. I know that there's a home grown premium, but it's not like our young foreign recruitment is cheap.

I want those signed in the Summer to be in their early 20's not teenagers who may come good in a couple of years. The lack of focus on the here and now was a Summer failure

But also necessary as it was the last chance to try it before the rules changed, so I get the gamble.

It has left us weaker in the now in the hope of being miles stronger in the future. Only time will tell whether it pays off.

Agree on EFL. Likes of Buendia and Dasilva would both add to our team in a creative sense, for example. Eze obviously would have too.

I don't think we will target players like that though, which I find a shame, but I think we will target first team upgrades in key positions, as you say we should.

We don't NEED to finish any higher than 17th either!

Is hopefully addressing only the most pressing need what amounts to a successful window now?

Mind you, at least it's gone from "stop flapping and see what happens later in the window" to "stop flapping and see what happens in the next window", so at least we're seeing *some* progress!

Buendia would fail the “no dickheads” test. I like da silva though.

What on earth has my post got to do with getting some spirit or backbone? God forbid anyone who doesn’t have rose tinted glasses on then. So do we need a CH a CM upgrade? Pretty much everyone has it on the wish list if you read this thread? I am allowed to be disappointed without being wrong you know. We have put all our eggs in one basket and I think it is a risky strategy. I hope Nuno and the players have cleared the air and can move on together starting tonight. We are better than we are performing but we are currently where we deserve to be because of mistakes and some dodgy decisions and tactics. I am off to paint my spine yellow and shout we are doomed at passers by 🤪😘
a lot of people on here agree with you about what signings we need and the things we need to do to improve......its just a lot of your posts are so unremitingly grim, negative and doomladen

I prefer to say it as I see it. It’s more exasperation than negativity in my mind. Like many of my age , when it comes to Wolves there is always the fear of shooting yourself in the foot. Wolves were wolvesy long before spurs were spursy! So to be positive, let’s have a right good go at Arsenal tonight. If you didn’t know, I fecking hate Arsenal
