January 2022 Transfer Thread

Every time someone plays well, the gossip columns start up, we've had RAN, Neves and now Killman all in the last month :ROFLMAO:

Rangnick had probably never heard of Kilman until we turned them over the other week. He can sod right off - we've got an absolute gem on our hands with Max.

Well Jinks he gets priced the same as Maguire if he does go...

I don't get who's even doing recruitment for them. Woodward has gone and the guy replacing him doesn't seem to have the same kind of overarching power. Fletcher has a sort of DoF role but he's also on the bench during games now. Rangnick is highly unlikely to be manager next season and they haven't explained what his "advisory" role is going forward. Unless they're playing their cards extremely close to their chest, they don't know who the new manager is going to be so how can you be signing players ahead of that?

Weird club.

Anyway I don't think they actually are interested in him beyond the way anyone else is, if we decided that someone we paid 50p for would now realise an insane profit and let it be known he could leave for the right price, they would be interested (so would dozens of other clubs). I don't think we are going down that road, not at this stage at least.

My guess is that they're betting on Rangnick to do the recruitment of both players and coaches, and theoretically if those two groups are put in place by the same guy, they should fit together.

Obviously in the real world that isn't nearly so simple, but I can kind of see the thinking there.

It's just stupid, like his default approach is to go low. But no two situations are ever the same.

- We don't need the money (at least I bloody hope not)
- We'd get at least £15m in the summer even if he scored 0 and assisted 0 for the rest of the season
- We have less than a fortnight to spend that money, even if we're looking to spend it in another area of the team

He missed out on Grealish for what would have been below his value through dicking around (different circumstances with Villa then, but if he'd just paid what they asked then they'd have got a bargain. But that wasn't enough for him, he wanted a super bargain).

Even as someone who derides the "stop faffing around" type of supporter, his approach would really annoy me if he were running my club's business.

Spurs have shown interest in both Dembele and Kessie.
So I don't think their interest in Traore is too serious. Probably just trying it on with a cheeky bid.
