January 2022 Transfer Thread

If we don’t I struggle with the point of it. Presumably Bruno sees a very high ceiling in Trincao.

Bruno wants to play with inside forwards if we play a front three. Adama can't do this on the right, he becomes a crossing and running towards the corner flag machine. He looks better at it on the left, but his goals record isn't an accident, and there's precious little by way of link up play, it's just he looks more dangerous running into a central area rather than away from goal on the other side.

Trincao is more equipped for that kind of role. He's also a better footballer than Adama, but with miles less explosivity and at present fairly limited impact on games. Whether it translates into any actual end product, we'll see.

I'd rather use whatever we get from Barca on a central midfielder who can adequately replace Neves/Moutinho in a two when need be but also has the ability to run beyond the forwards in a three, like Ramsey did for Villa last night. But it's not my choice.

Everyone accepts Adama had no real future here anymore, but I'm yet to be convinced that Trincao can cut it at PL level and deliver the assists and goals that mostly eluded his predecessor.

Hopefully an imminent link up with Pedro elevates his performances

We can but hope he improves as he adapts to PL . He clearly has loads of ability but some of the challenges he’s ducked out of remind me of Corica and if he doesn’t toughen up a bit he will never realise his potential in England.

That is just a crazy deal..how can we approve that

to break it down into simple terms that doesn't involve our own opinions

1) A player that doesn't want to stay with us (also getting his dream move)
2) A player the manager wants to keep

Thats it. Thats why it can and probably will be approved.

We can either swap Adama for Trincao now.

Or wait until Adama leaves and pay actual money for Trincao.

Even if you think Trincao isn't as good as Adama, this is the least worse option

Trincao buy out £25m, Adama around £29m. Nothing has changed from 2 weeks ago.

The profit will probably be used to cover some wages lost and we’ll chuck him on c. £80k p/W

A "glistening Traore", you say? I'm willing to allow it.

We’ve ‘cashed in’ part of the doc transfer like we did with jota. Odd way to do it?

Wasn’t sure of the best thread to post this in, but we have another €10m coming in for Vinagre.
