Jeremy Corbyn

I was going to say do you also think the problem is under estimated as the people who downplay it seem to be the Corbyn faithful, every now and again when someone posts on the JC Facebook page the following pitchfork mob is astounding, I used to smirk at the 'cult of Corbyn' tag, but it is true, the bloke is a 'rock star' of politics, he seems to have a lot of middle aged women fans (?) and the mantra of 'the best prime minister we never had'
You can't criticise Jeremy Koresh his followers get very uppity.

Did you actually read that report fully? He condemns antisemitism, apologises for defending the artist on free speech grounds and left a pro Palestine group on the grounds of anti-semitic posts within the group. So yes, what a terrible, anti-semitic, racist he is. Hang the man...
As I've said before, if other politicians were held up to the same standards as Corbyn we'd have a fabulous country. Feel free to invade countries and torture people but don't look at a mural!

I guess I'm anti-semitic too for posting this and saying that the Israeli regime is a criminal abomination. And it is the sort of thing that Corbyn has strenuously and continuously denounced for many years, the raging anti-semite...

I don't think anybody on here has ever defended all Israel actions, but how you can use an atrocity to clear JC (bloody hell I've just realised the reason for the fanatical following, same initials) of failing to act against the persecution of a religion, I don't think anyone's disputed his condemnation of Israel but when your own party has Jewish members leave quoting "been "deeply troubled" by the "growth of anti-Semitism" in Labour in recent years." , "Jewish members have been bullied, abused and driven out," , and yes everyone knows it's the exception rather than the norm but even your initial enquiry quoted an "occasionally toxic atmosphere". I think a lot of people need to differentiate between a country and a religion.

I'm not sure where DW has "cleared" JC? He's merely posted an article that shows why there is criticism of Israel, i think it's fair to say this often gets lost amongst the noise.

I think it’s just a straw man to make excuses for him tbh.

people can be factual about some things and horrible about others. hitler was nice to dogs apparently.

JC didn’t like Israel (and Israel has done some unlikeable stuff), and took his party in a massively anti Semitic direction.

I would like to think we are all grown up enough to have formulated our own views on Israel but even you must admit the post is quite confusing .
"I guess I'm anti-semitic too for posting this" anti semitic is hostile to or prejudiced against Jewish people, Israel is a country, so no.
"Corbyn has strenuously and continuously denounced for many years," Excellent that's good to know
"the raging anti-semite..." Assume being facetious but one does not negate the other, being anti Israel does not make you pro Jewish but if you think whatever Israel has done justifies anti-semitism then I'm afraid that is beneath contempt

If ever the Muslim contingent of the UK found a separate political voice that was aligned to the Palestinian struggle it would have a massive effect. I would also not align the Jewish people with the acts of the state. You are right it is a criminal abomination and not defensible in any shape or form.

Keir Starmer

"Since I was elected Labour leader, I have made it my mission to root out antisemitism from the Labour Party. I know that I will judged on my actions, not my words.
Jeremy Corbyn’s actions in response to the EHRC report undermined and set back our work in restoring trust and confidence in the Labour Party’s ability to tackle antisemitism. In those circumstances, I have taken the decision not to restore the whip to Jeremy Corbyn. I will keep this situation under review."

When moderates didn't take control of the NEC then this was the likely result
