Well its a start, surely? I hate the rag as much as the next person, but they basically decide who ends up as PM. He's got to get in bed with them if he's to have any chance of reaching the floating voters, and the politically disengaged. It's shit, but it's the way the world works.

They don't. 1m circ now. 2% of the electorate. Sun tend to follow the crowd rather than set the trend. Blair's polling dropped significantly after they backed him pre-97. Starmer would be way better off trying to convince 30% of non-voters to back him.

The Sun's circulation is a relatively small percentage of the population, but it's message still gets passed on. How many people read first hand that Corbyn supports the IRA versus those that repeated it?

Perhaps he doesn't need Murdoch onside, but he definitely doesn't need him actively anti. He'll go on Morgan's TV show next, it's part of trying to demonstrate he's a credible leader. I can see why it pisses people off and I'd never buy the rag, but he has to make himself more visible to the wider electorate at some point. Perhaps this is the unfortunate price for that?

He's not any kind of threat which is why he's had an easy ride so far. If he can continue to convince them he's a nice safe alternative that won't try and change anything they could well swing behind him. They'd probably prefer a less cunty Tory though.

A while back Keir advocated employees of Macdonalds get paid £15 an hour. Noble cause and one I would agree with in terms of minimum wage. Not sure Macdonalds will go for it, turn their back on shareholders and turn into a social enterprise to keep costs down. Especially after Sunak has thrown so much money their way in the past eighteen months. Bit scary that many major pensions schemes invest in these corporations. The corporations fail then so do the private pensions. Unless they run to the taxpayer.
