Leeds 1-1 Wolves: Verdict Thread

Very poor management of the game, sadly. Threat Traore, though he was in and out of the game, was keeping their defence occupied. Absolutely couldn’t take him off yet he did.

I don’t understand how we could defend so deep and yet so open?!

very frustrating because when we chose to attack we cut them open pretty well and looked dangerous.
We are just patternless at the moment. I don't see what he's trying to achieve.

Not so disappointed with the result but the performances are getting worse by the week. This was Championship level stuff against a pretty poor Leeds.

Donk put in a shambles of a second half and Hwang went AWOL too.

I think if we'd continued the way we had after the first three games I think we'd been in the same position we are now with a pattern of play and something I could see the change from Nuno was worth it.

At the moment it's shit and a rancid watch.

Now, like with Raul's run in the first half, maybe this is me being naive, but...

Do we really think we weren't trying to hold possession and attack them? Because to me I'm not sure how you would be able to tell given that none of Hwang, Traore, or Raul held the ball up well enough to keep possession in the first place?

So 3/4 of you think Fosun are shady, Bruno is an amateur and our recruitment is shit, but 10th place and 3rd in the form table over the last six games still isn't good enough.

As well as results we also demand champagne performances before the blokes even managed 10 PL games for us.

Is that realistic at this stage??
I’m relatively happy where we are currently. Just felt today we were extremely poor

I recall some people being worried about it. It would appear I was looking on another forum then…..

fact remains you can stomach the poor football more if you finish higher up the table, and for a period of time we weren’t getting results under nuno.

if the style of football is the same but you’re getting more results it takes away from the football being shit a bit more
You were. There were about 2 that were genuinely concerned, principally projecting a miracle run by Fulham which didn't happen. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think we were ever less than 9 points above the bottom 3 in the second half of the season

Lage needs to take a long hard look at this performance. Christ what would Man City have done to us today ? Out of curiosity , how many points did we have at this stage last season ?

???

Wasn't a great performance but a point away at a tough ground can't be sniffed at.

Surprised by the almost universal negativity, two minutes away from a record breaking away win
I don’t think we were awful, just not very good . Leeds had more energy and inventiveness even though both teams lacked quality. Donk Sa and Kilman and for 93 mins Semedo had decent games. Raul was throwing himself down like Grealish. 1 in 3 were fouls , the other two were shithousery from our number 9 and I don’t like to see it. Traore did nothing much at all nor did Hwang but he did score! The crowd was great for both teams. We need to play better and perform better . It’s a conundrum that we play well and lose yet play poorly and win. Leeds deserved their point for their energy alone.

And we only had Neves on the pitch for two minutes?

You were just trying to crowbar Raphinha in with Phillips and Bamford to bolster the point
Well yes we played like shite for the whole 2nd half while Leeds were without some of their better players and that included Raphinha.

They were missing their main striker (we’ve seen how we perform without Raul) and their main midfielder. Plus other players important to the way they play (no one mentioned world beaters).

If we’d played really nice stuff and lost, there wouldn’t be this level of reaction, as proven in the opening 3-4 games of the season. But that performance wasn’t anywhere near good enough. Proper head in the sand stuff if you don’t agree, mate.

Yep, and we're missing our best wing back, best defender and had our best midfielder on the bench.

This idea that if we were playing well and losing everyone would be chilled is nonsense too mate. Even after the first three games there were enough people saying it would get us relegated playing vanity football with no end product, and how Nuno wouldn't have got us in relegation trouble etc etc

I'm not saying the performance was good enough, I'm saying the reaction is well OTT and akin to us losing our third game on the trot

I’ve probably remembered it incorrectly. I think position wise we were flirting close to bottom 3, without taking into account fixtures etc.
I never thought we were in trouble, just recall it being a possibility.

perhaps I got it wrong, but my underlying point still remains

Definitely agree with the view that if we are just going to play like that then why the hell did we get rid of Nuno? That was a performance that showed that nothing has really changed. We are the same Wolves as we've been for 2 years. That may not be the way Bruno wants us to play, so if we aren't giving him players to play his way, really, what was the point of the change? I'm happy to get results like last week and against Newcastle, of course, but I'm definitely not happy about the way we play and the regression to the mean that these players have shown. The first 3 games of enjoyable football were just smoke and mirrors. This is the reality of this team, and it's boring.

Well yes we played like shite for the whole 2nd half while Leeds were without some of their better players and that included Raphinha.
You see this is where we disagree, I thought we were poor for over 90 minutes

And like I've said at least three times and been conveniently ignored, we were without some of our better players too

Also, am I the only one who can’t understand how saiss wasn’t sent off?

This is something of a stretch PK. Jonny is our best wb, but he's played a handful of games in the last 18 months and we knew before the season started we'd not see him this side of Xmas. Boly has spent a decent part of the same period being injured and was during the Summer when we didn't recruit an alternative. Neves on the bench was a tactical choice.

maybe we just have a paper thin squad and cant play like we did in the first 3-4 games including the cup against nottingham

Very lenient referee, only 2 yellows for Leeds who were kicking clumps out of players the whole game

A fair comparison. If people are gonna weep over Bielsa's selection choices then I'll weep over Bruno's (he is the manager of our club).

Why didn't Leeds recruit well enough to be able to cope with a couple of injuries too? Seems like goalposts are being changed. Are we criticising the managers and the performances they're able to elicit or the infrastructure and transfer dealings of the respective club's hierarchies?
