We only have a shout if it's a loan as Chelsea want over 30m for him.

Cornet is right there for £17.5m, it's documented fact...

But we still won't do it.
Apparently his £17.5m clause is based on that money all being in front, that's why Everton lost interest and moved on to McNeil.

As for the Leeds game, they've brought a lot of new players in aswell as losing their best 2 so a bit of an unknown quantity. Raul being out shouldn't make a difference to whether we play with a back 4, but I have a feeling it'll lead to a more conservative approach and it wouldn’t surprise me if we do.

A proper focal point is less important in the style we have played in pre season than we have previously. Someone like Hwang offering in behind could work as it creates more space for the 3 attacking mids.

For all his obvious faults, he's not a bad finisher and he's miles better running onto stuff than receiving it deep so I think he's much better played on the last man.

I can see what Leeds have tried to do as they were never going to be able to replace Phillips and Raphinha with like for like quality so they have signed 5 or 6 to improve the squad and spread the risk. I don't like the look of most of the players they've signed though and some of their stats in weaker leagues are nothing to write home about at all.

In taking this optimism and running with it.

Raul has also tweeted the comments from Wolves where it says a number of weeks

Our own Dr said a number of weeks. I mean 2 is a number I guess, but it's misleading if that's what he meant

Guess it's vague for a reason. Back in 2 weeks we are surprised...back after 5, no shock

Presume though the surgery stuff is some twitter ITK spreading bollocks

Percy wasn't it?

Percy wasn't it?

Thought he just said he was out for a month. No mention of surgery unless that was in his article of course. I just read the tweet

That's what I was thinking, behind a paywall so I haven't seen the article but he was the one who reported it hence why I assumed.

Fuck the Torygraph:

Wolves have suffered a huge blow to their Premier League preparations with Raul Jimenez set to miss at least a month with a knee injury.
Jimenez could even be out for up to eight weeks after sustaining the injury in Wolves's friendly against Besiktas on Saturday in Alicante.
The Mexico international has undergone medical checks this week and there are fears that he may not be available until after the September international break.
Wolves are still assessing the results of scans but initial concerns are that Jimenez, who was last season's joint leading scorer, is likely to miss the first eight Premier League games of the new campaign.

It leaves head coach Bruno Lage short on attacking options, with striker Fabio Silva loaned out to Anderlecht for the season with no option to recall him.
Morgan Gibbs-White is a target for Nottingham Forest and Everton this summer while Lage has also used Pedro Neto, Daniel Podence and Hee-chan Hwang in attack in pre-season.

Wolves expect to recruit a specialist striker by the end of the window but the club is determined to find the right fit for the squad and playing style under Lage.
Jimenez picked up the injury in the first half of the friendly win over Besiktas after overstretching for the ball. He had scored the first goal in the 3-0 victory.
Wolves will play their final game of pre-season this weekend against Sporting.
Jimenez has been a key player for Wolves since completing his £30million move from Benfica in April 2019, after a successful loan spell.
In his first full season he finished the campaign with 27 goals in total as the club reached the Europa League quarter-finals under Nuno Espirito Santo.
However, in the 2020/21 season he sustained a serious injury after fracturing his skull in the game at Arsenal. He did not play again that season and missed seven months, returning to defy early fears that he could be forced to retire.

Journo in word count quota shocker.

What would you rather play if the choice was;

4-3-3 with Dendoncker in midfield

4-2-3-1 with Hwang up front

4231 with Hwang up front. Donck just gets in the way.

Up front Hwang can just be a decoy and might actually score if one fell in his lap.

Every time.

He makes some genuinely good runs. He's just shit when he has to do anything with the ball.
