They did, though Trincao may as well not have been on the pitch after he missed his chance.

I only want Hwang playing nominally wide. When we have the ball, he has to get close to Raul.
I agree, tbf Trincao was playing well till that miss I think, hopefully will get a goal soon and kick on....think there's a decent player in him

Trincao should be fine for the weekend (assuming he's actually well).

Yeah, he's a good player. Needs a goal or two but he's fine. I'd pay the money based on what I've seen, he's got plenty of growth in him.
So would I, but do we definitely get an option to buy with him?

He’d be a great buy.

If not, there will certainly be bigger clubs than us in for him.

agreed. am reminded of early neto watching him.

Yeah, the deal is in place. Not that expensive in relative terms either, £25m I think.

£25m would seem an expensive punt to me on current evidence, particularly in an area of the field were not short in. Plus we have MGW who cost nothing and is likely on 1/5th of the wages.

Fortunately we don’t have to make a decision for 8 months but I wouldn’t be activating it on current evidence. One footed, neat and tidy forwards, with no pace who don’t score are ten a penny.

Not comparing him like for like. But £25m for a player who doesn’t get in your best XI. 5th option when Neto comes back.

If he’s a nailed on starter end of the season then yes, bargain. But currently he’s had no more impact that MGW would have really.

For a team that has and presumably will continue to have budget restrictions then £25m on Trincao based on what we've seen so far would be an extravagant expense. Now obviously now that the FFP issues - cough - are behind us the purse strings may open in which case I'll believe it when I see it, but if for instance our Summer budget is sub £50m net then there will be more important needs assuming Neto and Adama stay

Bielsa says Phillips, Ayling and Bamford will not feature but Raphinha will.play.....we should get something from this game (that last bit's me not Bielsa) famous last words

Like everyone else on here, I hope Neto comes back playing like he used to.
Until he's recovered from his injuries and starts training again we won't know if he can reach the level of performance he used to achieve. His recovery has already hit a problem and currently his return date is in Feb.
So it may be sensible for Trincao to get some playing time and give him the chance to develop his game and offer competition for places.

Not sure about that.

Trincao has played about five games and MGW has been around our first team for about five years.

I would go as far as to say that Trincao has contributed as much (if not more) in those five games than MGW has contributed (in the Premier League) in five years.

MGW is totally playing at his level, now.

Trincao has not shown his best yet. He needs to step up and do that when he gets the chance or he will slip down the pecking order quickly.

I do somewhat get the sense that if Trincao hasn't established himself by the time Neto is healthy, he's really going to struggle to ever make an impact.

Yes. And my point is Trincao has provided very little/anything (played well against United mind, but he didn’t score and we lost). MGW may have contributed nothing, but like I said, that’s no different to what Trincao has done.

It wasn’t a pro/con MGW comment. It was anti Trincao.
