RAN doesn't read the danger until after the pass is played. If he stays alive they never put in a cross in the first place.

He reads the danger, he's tracking the run, but he makes the mistake of stepping forward when the ball is played, either trying to play offside or perhaps thinking he can cut out the pass. I'm not sure he keeps up with the runner in behind even without that step though, the guys running full chat by that point and it's a well weighted pass in behind.

In the same time that's going in Lookman goes from being 2 yards behind the rest of the defence to 2 yards ahead of it and Semedo is the only player with eyes on him. Didn't react to the ball in behind and the follow on run that Lookman was making at all.
