Let's talk about Nuno....

People thought everything would be OK when we signed a striker. It isn't.

People thought everything would be OK when Jonny came back. It isn't.

People think everything will be OK when Boly is back. It won't be. He's our best defender, but he probably wouldn't get in 8 other defences.

People think everything will be OK when Raul is back. It won't be, we were boring as fuck before he got injured.

People think everything will be OK next season. I don't think it will be. It's a tournament summer, so most will still get no break.

The first three months of the season the excuses will shift, to no rest again, new players needing time to settle in, still a mental hangover from last season, nobody's got any money so we can't buy anybody and we can't shift our shit, blah blah blah.

If Nuno is too scared to change the approach to games now, when the season is dead and there's no crowd in, then I just don't believe he will next season. We'll get the same half in, half out bullshit dross we've been served all season.

I know we can't stop it, because we can't sack him, it'd be wrong to and he deserves the time. But tbh you can see what's coming a bloody mile off

doubt any of us think Nuno has been faultless, but the discussion has to have some balance

Of course, that's why I'm balancing out the viewpoints that are laying excessive blame (imo) on the playing squad

How many of our players will play every single game of the Euro's though that their countries play in? I hazard not many - Neves maybe? Patricio? Semedo? That is probably it. Neto is on the fringes as Portugal have an absolute embarrassment of attacking riches, Moutinho similar, Coady won't be an England regular, Dendoncker isn't a regular for Belgium. Traore won't get called up for Spain.

Obviously you still train, but I don't think many will get game time.

There's no telling what Ross's Dad from Friends will do with Portugal but I'd say Rui will start all their games (unless it's a dead rubber) and Joao will play a few. He prefers the awful William Carvalho to Neves for reasons best known to himself and if he's got any sense then Cancelo should be playing RB rather than Semedo. Neto should go but I don't think he will. He'll pick shite like Guedes instead.

Don't think Coady will go.

Dendoncker will be in the squad but never play.

Adama won't go. Nor will Jonny.

It won't do anything to fix the mental fatigue. Likely to still be in bubbles away from their families. Plus fitness permitting it looks like Raul is going to the Olympics

Ah yes, I forgot about Cancelo.

We have good players but they're not international regulars, which is why the comments of "Nuno can't get the best out of international superstars" from some sections of our fan base baffle me. None of them really start regularly for their countries except for Raul, Patricio and Moutinho.

Only Rui will play. João used to but unlikely to be the case now. Neves rarely plays, Semedo only has 17 caps and is behind Cancelo if they don’t play him somewhere else, Neto will likely go but they have Bernardo, Fernandes, Ronaldo, Felix to fit in, Traore will be impact sub if he goes and Donck squad filler. Coady may go as a cheerleader.

Neto will miss out to Ronaldo, Felix, Fernandes, Silva and Jota I think.

If they're not picked and bubbles are unlikely in June then at the very least they'll be able to socialise together.

More likely all restrictions will be lifted by then and families will be back together so mental health and recharging mentally will happen.

Not sure why we are going round in circles here. Everyone at the club is suffering from fatigue, which is no surprise really as the whole country is.

This season is literally null and void as far as results stand. Hopefully not so many of our players get to play in the Euros, and they can just see their families again (as Johnny said above).

One fly in the ointment as far as summer recruitment might go is the Chinese govt are really starting to reel in the foreign investment in football clubs by companies. I'm hoping Fosun have been smart enough to be able to get around this, or it might scupper any big transfers.

Thats probably a good part of the reason why they even own Wolves.

Fosun don't hold their money in China.
Not sure that means anything. They are a Chinese company that have to go by what the Chinese govt decrees. The Athletic did a good piece on how companies there have to abide by what the govt tells them to do. As much as having to close clubs down (in China).

Yes, I read it. But Suning are entirely Chinese based.

Fosun are a global company, I don't have any worries there. Mind you they aren't going to be bankrolling us any time soon (which again, I don't mind).

Fosun can’t externally invest (they don’t want to anyway) because FFP basically forbids it. PL FFP allows a little but UEFA is even stricter.

Yes. I realise that Fosun are global, which makes a difference for sure. Apparently they (Fosun) are the marker for the situation. Which you will have read too. It's a little concerning(for me) when you read into it though. The Chinese govt are ruthless when it comes to asserting their power.

Everton say hi.
I honestly don’t know how they are getting away with it. Selling Lukaku for £80M+ gives you a lot of wiggle room though.

I think they were in a lot of trouble with it but Covid has bailed them out this year. Still probably going to have to sell or have a year off to comply.
