didnt someone break their leg in that FA cup final? I'm not 100% sure though, it never gets mentioned.
Yes, Dave Whelan of Blackburn. And with no substitutes in those days they stayed at 10 men. Justice was done though, Dave Whelans Wigan won the FA cup when they beat Man City in 2010 ( i think ).

Remember that the rugby ball headed cunt claimed in his shitty book that Norman Deeley (who had since died, so had no right of reply) intended to do him.

Really, Dave. I think actually you made a shit challenge and got caught accidentally, if anything you were at fault.

Whelan is a very proud man, he formed D.W. Sports, and was very succesful, hence he took over the reins at Wigan. He left them not so long ago , and look where they are now. He is a genuine nice guy, even Alan Sugar loves him, he usually hates everyone.

Ended DW's career!

He only played another 115 League games for Crewe. (He played 78 for Blackburn, lying fuck)

He's a bonafide cunt and that comes from people who have met him. Worse than Mike Ashley for treating suppliers like shit.

If anything the challenge by Whelan was a poor one, two footed, nowhere near the ball.....all his own fault I'm afraid

When I broke my leg in the cup final it was exactly the same type of tackle," he said."We both went for the ball. It brought back memories. It ruined my career. I am not going to criticise Norman Deeley. "These things happen in football. He came over the ball but he didn't do it with the aim of breaking my leg."

Hmm, "exactly the same kind of tackle".. Studs up on the knee? it's nothing like that in the footage, i can hardly see deeley's foot off the ground.

Auto-biography
admits he was intent on intimidating Deeley from the off, and “After about twenty minutes I got him a tackle and I really hurt him. He was getting away from me, so I just clogged him, perhaps a little unfairly but not by the standards of the day. ‘He’s finished for the rest of the game, he won’t bother me now,’ I thought.

“In the 42nd minute a 50:50 ball came in between me and Norman Deeley. I thought he would still be trying to get there ahead of me, even after the crunch I’d just given him. He was that type of player. So I set off, determined to win the ball.

“And I did. I got there seconds before Deeley. But that was when I realised he had no intention at all of racing me for that ball. He was going for me. As I was running I heard a loud crack and felt my knee suddenly burn with pain. ……I was in agony and I knew I was out of the game. Norman Deeley had got me good and proper."

on top of lying about the tackle and inconsistently deciding it was nothing vs a deliberate act, he also admits to setting out to hurt deeley himself. what a victim.

Left them when he realised Wigans "glory" days were behind them, happy to take the credit for their rise, didn't want to be associated with the fall.
Don't forget his infamous remark about the Chinese as well.

Does Nuno know how to play a 4 at the back, high pressing, high possession style?

I know he does the defensive, pragmatic, counter attack style really well. How much of an evolution is it for Nuno?

Sorry to go on about it , but Rui has a reputation as an international class goalkeeper, first choice still for Portugal yet looked decidedly ordinary for most of today bar one excellent stop. I thought he was static on crosses and when he did come for them he was flappy and bailed out by Coady. He is one of our top earners and should be doing better and performing better than he has done. Decent competition is necessary please in the summer. He has it too easy .
