Brighton playing well, the better side. United have been dreadful, Rashford and Cavani the worst. No idea how Fred gets a game and AWB just not good enough on the ball to play for a top side.

Fred has been better this year than previous but has been really poor recently. I like to remind some friends occasionally that LFC and Utd collectively spent 108 million roughly on Fred and Keita, and yet will moan about the difficulties of injuries etc.

Just out of genuine interest regarding the thought process behind this (of anyone who agrees with you, no just you mate) , if people are saying the season doesn't matter, does that mean the performance of the manager or any of the players during any of the meaningless games don't matter either?

I dont feel like a stakeholder this season compared to when I'm a season ticket holder. I've still watched every game but I'm indifferent at best about the results. With that said it'd be foolish in the extreme to ignore the (tactical) problems we have encountered this season. I dont think its outside the realms of possibility we mightve ended up in a relegation scrap with fans permitted - the Albion game would've been toxic considering the run of form we were on too making things even harder, if we play Arsenal on the back of the run of Albion, Chorley and Crystal Palace I'm not sure the team hang in there during that onslaught.

On the flip side to that, there's no better time to blood these youngsters with no fans in, I sincerely hope we use the closing games to make the move to a 4. Watching the games to me has a pre season feel, I dont care about the result but irs interesting to dissect the tactics afterwards. My big fear is waste this time and start next season in reverse.

Wolves from lockdown to January were a pretty awful watch. The where’s and why’s have been done to death on here, so it’s pointless to rehash them. We need three or four key positions strengthened and a decision on 4 or 3 that reflects the staff we have and have purchased. Pointless going to a four without a new CB and CM for example. Pointless keeping three up top without Raul or a genuine replacement if , god forbid , it’s needed. Fabio and WJ are not it.
we have played better football in the last two months but we still are toothless in attack. That is a real worry for next season. Remember we were toothless at times WITH Raul in early games too.

A lot of 'luck' or 'things dropping for players' comes down to getting men forward though. Things don't drop for us cos we rarely have more than one body in danger areas (compare us to the likes of Leeds or Villa).

Not as easy to commit people forward if you're not an elite club, I grant you, but I think if we move towards committing more players in this way it could pay dividends for us too.

I only watched about 2 minutes which would have been not long before Utd scored their second. Brighton had every man behind the ball ,but Utd had pushed so far up that Lindelof was 25 yards out and Maguire was making runs into the box. Obviously that leaves you open to being broken on, but it's not what Wolves would have done in a similar sitiation. We would have had 3 chs on the halfway line

Quite a few times we have had 4 or 5 in or around the penalty area but the ball has still come back to Coady etc. Not sure why, are we waiting till we are sure we can play the killer pass? Worried about getting caught on the break? Maybe we just need to get used to this style of play.

The scenario you describe happens so regularly it's more amusing than frustrating now. I don't know what it is...In those moments we seem to run out of ideas, or lack a bit of faith in what we're trying to do.

I think in nearly every game we have periods where we put teams under pressure but then we seem to just relieve the pressure ourselves. It doesn't do much to test opposition resolve and mental strength.

We've haven't always done this though. Plenty of times under Nuno in previous seasons where you could sense a goal coming (especially second half or late on) and we've duly followed through with a goal or two (usually scored by Jota, Raul or Doc though!!).
