Live Match Discussion: 2020/21

From the BBC live page

I have been in touch with the PGMOL re West Brom's disallowed goal.

Because VAR was unable to get an angle that conclusively showed whether Diagne's upper body was onside or offside, the officials have stuck with the on-field decision.

All irrelevant from a score perspective as it's now 2-0. Southampton have been absolute dogdirt.

Urgh, we still have to play these stripy fuckers too.

Yep they’ll go into it in last chance saloon mode we’ll go into it in on the beach mode

Pretty much a guaranteed three points for them on current performance levels.

They don't have a prayer.

They effectively have to make up 9 points on Newcastle in 7 games given goal difference. If they win this, which they should now.

They won't beat Leicester or Liverpool.

So they need to beat us, Villa, Arsenal and one of West Ham or Leeds, hope Newcastle lose every game, and Fulham carry on being shit so they only beat Newcastle on the last day.

No chance.

Nah. I think we have enough to snuff out this “revival”.
They've already beat us when they were in god-awful form, and our "effort" in most recent games suggests that we're already done for the season (after Fridays three points probably more so). Couple that with the fact we usually play with the intensity of a 90 year old on a 10 mile hike. Then I'm not optimistic of us getting a result there.

It is going to however take a minor miracle for them to stay up.

Is this true, really?

Since we last played each other:

Wolves: P12 W4 D4 L4

West Brom: P13 W3 D4 L6

If we give them this win here.

Before they played Chelsea they were on a run of 1 goal in 5 games.

Based on watching our last two games and theirs coupled with our game against them already then yes.

If we play to our best then we beat them. But how many times have we done that this season?

They've played against a 10 man Chelsea and a Southampton team who if we're on the beach, I don't know where the fuck they've been for the whole of 2021.

We're a mid-table team playing like a mid-table team, they've just about inched into "might scrape 17th" form, way too late to make any difference.

We shouldn't have lost to them at home and as pitiful as our defending was last Monday, we shouldn't have lost that game either. And 0-0 was the very least we deserved on Friday.

I'm not saying we're playing scintillating stuff but come on now.

I'm not saying that we might as well not turn up. Just my personal opinion that if I was a neutral based on what I've seen recently, I'd fancy them to turn us over. Obviously there's a few games before then so things could well change. Hopefully with us putting a few past Sheffield Utd on Saturday night.

Hmm. Albion appear to have gone ultra defensive now. Not sure that is a good idea.

You sense a Southampton goal would change the games complexion somewhat. They haven't as yet really looked like getting one though.

3-0!
