Not sure about Neves as he can offer more than sitting in a double pivot, but agree with the other 2. Unless we get the Bruno as promised and he can vacate that position in possession

In fact the only players it doesn't get the best out of is Coady, Saiss and Boly.

It's almost as if we should've bought a CB at some point.
Could argue Kilman too there perhaps.

Well I guess Mosquera could possibly be a bit of a solution. Certainly quick as fuck. But 11 minutes isn't much of an evidence sample.

Well “good players can play anywhere” etc. But I think Neves would struggle to play at the base of a 3 like Fabinho in a top team. He could play as an 8 no question but I think he is best suited to the double pivot.

I think the fact we’ve always played Neves at the base of a 3 and not played Donck there who would be most suited whilst also playing Donck in a role he is completely not suited to instead supports that theory. Although you could counter and say we’ve never really played through the middle/the thirds so used Neves’ passing range to get it out wide from deep instead. You’d think though if he was better suited to it at some point someone would have thought I’ll play Donck, a limited footballer and career DM, as the base and then play Neves and Moutinho as two 8’s using their technical ability, but they haven’t.

Villa probably ought to be in front here, Liverpool all over the place at the back and not created much in attack.

Thank god john Moss is retiring in a couple of weeks truly appalling official incompetent, inconsistent and has zero authority.
I was going to add this to the “things to be happy” thread.

Two really poor first touches by Watkins and Ings have let Liverpool of the hook here.

He’s one of those refs that does the PL no favours when it’s accused of favouring the bigger clubs or when people cry foul play amongst officials

Thought Villa played quite well, Liverpool seemed quite sluggish by their standards, resorted to some shithousing at the end.
