Liverpool 3-1 Wolves: Verdict Thread

That 3 on 1 with Raul having Dendoncker and Hwang either side of him must have felt like a proper “damned if I pass it damned if I don’t” for Raul.

Otherwise, Bruno’s game management cost us that. He gets credit for recognising the weaknesses that led to our repeated joys on the counter but it’s completely negated by a failure to see Hwang would be poorly suited. Any of Fabio, Trincao or Chiquinho would have been better. Defensively it was a complete show but - as I’m nice - I’m more inclined to blame that on the frantic nature of the game than the players and Bruno.

Next season needs an overhaul of the managerial structure as the first step and I’ll be really disappointed if we lose the likes of Jimenez, Jonny, Moutinho, Podence etc. but retain Bruno

That was more entertaining than some games I have been at this season.

If we had played like that in the last 6 or 7 games we would have been in Europe somewhere - instead we are 10th.

Agree Neto leaving the pitch hurt us & having to change the keeper at half time gave us little options after that to change it. There's no one to put it in the net - Hwang & Dendocker had good chances and failed. That needs to be sorted.

Neves was our MoTM - quality which we probably won't have next season and probably shouldn't as he needs to play at a higher level.
Toti & Ait Nouri did well which is beneficial for the future as they are both young.

Like as not, watch us keep both.

I’m just baffled with hwang. Really am. Seen some bad footballers in my time at wolves, but hwang is up there

Thought we gave it a good go today overall.
I've thought recently that although plainly not good enough, the criticism of Hwang has been a bit OTT, but today I'm jumping on the bandwagon. I dont think I've seen a more inept performance from a Wolves player ever. Poor control, falling about all over the place, every pass misplaced by miles, clumsy on the ball, trip over it all the time. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so embarrassing.

At this point you have to assume that Bruno is under orders from Fosun to keep playing him to boost support in South Korea. There are zero justifiable football reasons for him to be even in the 1st team squad let alone playing regularly. He'd look bang average in League 2.

He seems to have got worse over the season culminating in a performance today that was piss poor from the minute he came on till the end.
He didn't seem that bad at the beginning of the season, got some scrappy poachers goals, couple of beauties against Newcastle, by its gone downhill ever since.
Surely Lage is being instructed to play him

Thank fuck City won the league! We were giving them a helping hand for a while and had so many decent positions to add to our early goal. However, we lacked that little bit of quality that teams like City and Liverpool have, in those moments. Anyway, it didn't matter in the end. On the whole I thought we played alright. Great to see Neto score but that happiness tempered by his injury. Hope to god he's OK because his replacement was simply cack again! 99% of the time, Hwang cannot control a ball or find a simple pass! What a bad buy he's continuing to look like. MoTM for me, Ruben Neves. Not much support from Dendoncker, as usual, but even more surprising, nor from Moutinho! If this is his last game in old gold, thanks Ruben, you've been an absolute legend. I'll cherish all those memories, especially that goal against Derby, up alongside those wonderful memories of King John, Doog, Kenny and Bully. Hoping and praying "the wonderkid" wears an old gold short next season but am a realist.

I can forgive him not bringing on Trincao as he’s not gong to be here, I can forgive him not bringing on Podence as he doesn’t want to be here/ is injured (delete as appropriate). Cannot forgive him not bringing on Chiquinho or Fabio and playing Hwang instead. Honestly don’t know how many bad performances he needs to have before we fuck him off.

To spurn the chance of 8th place with 10 games to go and as many points advantage over the chasing pack just about sums us up since the start of April, and to let fickin Leicester pip us adds to the irony as they have been as shit as us.
It’s a woeful statistic and doesn’t bode well for next season so Big changes needed from the top

We’ve scoffed at Man U and Spurs as being a plane crash of clubs and in turmoil this season yet both are in Europe and ended up well clear of us in Spurs case. That’s a big club mentality, they will go on and rebuild stronger, so can’t see us racking up to OT or Spurs next year and getting anything

So today although a bit inevitable, where I thought we had a valiant effort, we cannot continue to give a helping hand to the wankstains in this league like Norwich, Burnley, Leeds, Newcastle and Brighton. That’s at least 15 points dropped for me irrespective of other results

Let’s hope a long hot summer doesn’t pass us by….work has to start tomorrow

Over to you Mr Shi

My feelings exactly.

I'm really nervous for next season.

I do have some sympathy for Lage as he was shafted in August and then shafted again even more in January. However, going from a (very) slim chance of top 4 to finishing 10th is mainly on him. He’s not good enough. He should never have been appointed in the first place and needs to be replaced but our transfer business has been embarrassing. Cheers Jeff & Scott.
