Liverpool 4-0 Wolves: Verdict Thread

Wall set outside the posts here. Becks still scores.

You always put a wall up, you're daft not to.

but surely without the wall the GK takes up a better position and sees the shot clearly from the moment of contact

without the wall you're inviting the shooting opportunity.
the purpose of the wall is to make the strikers options more difficult.

Honestly mate, I'm no Becks (certainly not these days) but if you're giving me an unobstructed strike from 25 yards against a keeper who's about an equivalent standard to my "wardrobe standing on the right and pinging it in every now and then" level, and I can go either side, I'm going to score a lot more than he'll save (notwithstanding the ones I'll put wide or over).

He'd have a tiny chance of saving it.

35 yards might be a bit different but I'd still do it regardless, makes no difference anyway. The chances of me having a fire overnight are minimal but I still have a smoke alarm. If I don't have one then at best I save on buying batteries now and then.

Maybe it’s just us as numerous journalists on Twitter are wax lyrical about Tyldsley commentary

Just a small aside did anyone else get the impression that Paul Scholes has never seen us play before, he seemed reticent to contribute anything to the conversation about us prior to the game :)

There is a school of thought that if the keeper can do exactly what you say then he can position himself correctly.

Of course if your wall can stop the kick earlier that's a better thing as you can go on the attack earlier.

Don't think there's a right or wrong way.

Journalists are clueless wankers as a rule.

Not many you could say knows more than the average fan about football.

As arrogant as this sounds I'd back my knowledge of the game itself against any journalist in our press, written and visual.

To be fair one of them was James Boardman whos like a Liverpool cheerleader journalist for the Mirror, John Cross who regularly goes with popular opinion. Simple question to ask is why is Tyldsley not been picked up by Sky, BT and was binned by itv?

Another gem from Tyldsley.....Salah played a routine cross field ball, the sort a league 2 player would be capable of executing 9 times out of ten, yet because he used the outside of his foot, Tyldsley sounded like he wanted Salahs children afterwards.

He’s such a pretentious fucking wanker.

Anything outside the box was a three man wall to cover one post for me. I took the other side. If you could then thread a needle you would score and deserve it!. I can think of two in about 200 matches where that happened

I think it’s case of know your audience reality is his radio commentary on Talksport when covering Liverpool is of similar ilk. Yes Liverpool would have had a larger audience but a big proportion of the audience were wolves. It really isn’t much to ask to be balanced especially as the lead commentator

Playing it with the outside of your foot is significantly more difficult, isn't it?

I would expect most pros at the top level to be able to do it with accuracy and weight as technically they're all very good.

Most of these commentators still think an outside of the boot pass or stepover is exotic.

Not sure if McCoist had watched us recently - he seemed surprised at how fast Traore is and then shortly afterwards was unaware we score the vast majority of our goals in the second half. Still I suppose it could prevent preconceived views...

Didn't he say he read it on a fact sheet ?

If its played down the line with swerve and takes two players out of the game due to its accuracy...,.then it probably warrants a mention. It was none of those things though. It was a simple cross field pass with no opposing player within ten yards of the path of the ball.

I wouldn’t say it was even significantly more difficult, certainly not for a professional footballer.
