Can't see us scoring once more, although we'll see some goals for definite. Think the pre- and post match beers will be the highlight of the day!

Id put money on this been the game where our defensive close calls are caught out. Jota, Salah and Mane will be all over us fucking about at the back.

One of the few games 'gerrit forward! Will be wholly justified

Think we'll score in this one....whether we score enough is another matter.

Few tickets left on the official site if people don't have plans..

Impossible to get tickets IIRC.

0-3 here.

2020/21: L 0-1 (H), L 0-4 (A)
2019/20: L 1-2 (H), L 0-1 (A)
2018/19: L 0-2 (H), L 0-2 (A), W 2-1 (H, FAC)
2016/17: W 2-1 (A, FAC)
2011/12: L 0-3 (H), L 1-2 (A)
2010/11: L 0-3 (H), W 1-0 (A)
2009/10: D 0-0 (H), L 0-2 (A)
2003/4: D 1-1 (H), L 0-1 (A)

I'd hate to see the pre-match vibe if we weren't in the top 6

Don't really expect anything from the game. Be nice if we actually made them earn it though like we did on the night game when Raul scored that great header from a break with Adama.

Haven't beaten them at home in the league since August 1981.

I suspect it'll turn ugly if United beat Arsenal tonight.

It's hardly insightful predicting a Liverpool victory.

I just think the dourness is a bit over-egged. Even with our problems and improvements needed we haven't been higher than this in the PL, have we?

Our home league run without a win against them has to end at some point and their record of scoring 2+ in every game for ages will also have to end.

The position would look good to a casual fan who hasn't really watched us. However all of us can see there are glaring issues that will see us fall down to midtable range which is about where we should be based on the squads overall quality/depth.

Recency bias also, if this came directly after Everton or west ham some would likely be optimistic. I just think Liverpool are good enough to blow any team away by 3/4 even city or Chelsea if they are proper on it and as such, they need to have an off day for us to pick up points against them.

I actually mention the same glaring issues in the post you quote.

But the fact remains we are in this position, it's the reality of where we're at right now.

Why have the dour demeanour as if we've already got dicked by Liverpool and City and Chelsea before it even happens? It's not a foregone conclusion any more than us beating one of the bottom three in the last couple of games was a foregone conclusions.

It's just projecting into a depressing future reality at the expense of where we're actually at

Common sense is the only answer I have to the question. I don't think we have played like a team who's 6th best in the league, we've had a very decent run of fixtures and rode our luck. I can't just ignore what's blatantly obvious because of a league table position I don't really bother looking at until after Christmas.

You're in the minority of people who don't look at the league table. The league table position certainly means something (ask the managers who've been sacked so far this season), and as I've said previously, people would be less dismissive of it if we were 17th.

Of course we're likely to drop during this month, but it may not and hasn't happened yet. We can still enjoy where we are right at this moment, can't we?
