Loan Watch 2020-2021

From the weekend:

Morgan Gibbs-White - Swansea City, The Championship

Another good game for MGW, played the full 90 minutes at Blues and had several attempts on goal, but couldn't find a way past the keeper. 0-0.

Ryan Giles - Coventry City, The Championship

A full game and a fine assist to help his team to a 3-2 win over QPR.

Matija Sarkic - Shrewsbury Town, League One

Played against Northampton at home and committed a real blooper: coming out to clear the ball but completely missing it, giving the striker to chance to put it in an empty net. Might have got to the other goal as well. Lost 2-1.

Terry Taylor - Grimsby Town, League Two

Grimsby's poor start to the season continues with a 4-0 defeat at home to Salford, of which Taylor played 90 minutes.

Rafa Mir - S.D Huesca, La Liga

Another quiet game for Mir. Subbed after an hour in a 2-1 defeat at home to Cadiz.

Jordao - Famalicao, Portuguese Primeira Liga

Started at right-back at home to Benfica. Maybe not the smartest of ideas. Anyway, Benfica ran riot, going 4 up before Jordao was subbed off after an hour. None of the goals can be blamed on him directly, thankfully. Final result 1-5.

Tote Gomes - Grasshoppers, Swiss Second Tier

A full game in a 3-2 win over Winterthur

Christian Herc - F.C Karvina, Czech Premier League

Played a full game in a 1-1 draw at Slovan Liberec.

David Wang - Nantong Zhiyun, Chinese Super League

Made his first start in ages, playing the first half of a 0-0 draw.

Unused sub: Pardington
Not in squad: Ronan, Campana

In fact effectively that's him gone for good as his contract runs out in 2022.

Weird that we paid the 5m for him really as it became clear at the end of the Championship season we weren't really going to use him in the Premier League. I guess they were hoping one of his earlier loans worked out and they could move him on for a profit.

Assist for Adama at West Ham. And that's about it.

Lovely fella, will always appreciate that half season that got us so far - in that sense he's just Chris Iwelumo a decade on.

We probably had to pay the £5m to grease the right cogs.

Sarkic starts in goal for Shrewsbury Vs Newcastle u21s. Nothing for him to do as yet

Looks like smart management from Ricketts. Give him a game straight away with a decent chance of a clean sheet - helps him get over that howler.

Him and Jota in the Villa home game in the champ were immense. That was a fantastic day.

MGW seemed heavily involved in their attacking player, seems to have made a decent start and can see him becoming very effective for them which bodes well

I watched that down the Rugby club, that was when I really started to believe that we did have something special. As well as Jota being immense I'm sure in that game Neves shot from the Centre circle and nearly scored. I've never seen any replays though

Swansea fans absolutely adore MGW. An excellent start - fingers crossed he can stay injury free.

The talent was never in doubt (in my opinion anyway) - just needs regular meaningful minutes. Delighted he's getting that.

Has he ever started three league games in a row for us? Genuinely not sure he has.

Could/should have scored then - he looks far too good for Wycombe tbf

Probably not! Maybe in that period over christmas in our first season back? Started Chelsea and Bournemouth games either side of Newcastle away so maybe not

Involved in a lovely move for the second goal, by all accounts.

He looked good - quick, lovely technique, good vision. I think this will be a really good loan for him if he can avoid injury.
