Loan Watch 2020-2021

Rafa Mir was absolute dogshit for Forest - but then he was also played on the right of a 3 a lot of the time.
That whole ordeal was bizarre. I don't know how you watch anything about Mir's game and come to the conclusion that he's fit to play on the wing.

Apologies for neglecting the thread, have had a busy work schedule recently!

Here's a summary of things since the last update:

Ryan Giles - Rotherham

In and out the team as Rotherham desperately battle the drop, continuing in LWB role.

Dion Sanderson - Sunderland

Was a fixture of the team until he picked up a back injury last week. Sunderland fans sad to see him out, especially after they just lost a big promotion game vs Blackpool which saw automatic promotion move further away

Matija Sarkic - Shrewsbury

Was on a decent run with a couple more clean sheets on his belt, but then was on the receiving end of six goals in two games and was left out of the squad at the weekend - possibly injured.

Rafa Mir - Huesca, La Liga

Hit successive braces against Levante and Elche but has gone off the boil since as Huesca drop into the bottom three again. 12 goals in one of the best leagues in Europe is impressive, though.

Patrick Cutrone - Valencia, La Liga

Has been getting more minutes in the last few games and, if we’re being harsh, missed an open goal when the ball cannoned at his head off the crossbar - but still....

Ruben Vinagre & Leo Campana - Famalicao, Primeira Liga

Vinagre’s settled down as a fixture in the team, picking up two assists in his last four games - the first one being an impressive mazy dribble into the heart of the defence.

Campana had been out for a while injured but he played the second half last week in which he scored in a 3-0 win.

Grasshoppers

Everyone's favourite Swiss team are close to sealing promotion: 7 points clear at the top with just 5 games to go. They've also snapped up Olofinjana as Sporting Director so they're clearly going places.

Toti Gomes has continued his record of playing every minute this season, playing his part in the joint-best defence in the league

Bonatini has started the last six games in which time he’s got three goals and two assists.

Ronan’s cemented his place in the team, often playing 90 minutes in a run of good form.

Christian Herc - M.K. Karvina, Czech Premier

Has played every minute since the last update, scoring two goals in the process taking his seasonal tally up to five.

Injured/out of the squad: Jordao, Matheson, Shabani, Burr

From the weekend:

Ryan Giles - Rotherham, The Championship

Played the full game in a 1-0 defeat at Barnsley. Put in a good cross that should have ended in a goal but his team mate missed a sitter.

Rafa Mir - S.D Huesca, La Liga

Played the full game in a relegation six-pointer vs Getafe and it didn't go well. Lost 2-0 to put Huesca three points from safety with five games to go. Mir had the best of his team's chances, including a free header that he really should have put away.

Ruben Vinagre and Leo Campana- Famalicão, Portuguese Primeira Liga

Both started in a 2-2 draw. Vinagre at LB and Campana at the head of a front three. Campana grabbed his second goal in as many games with a smart run and hooked finish, but was subbed after an hour. Vinagre lasted until the 70th minute.

Goal at 1:30:

Christian Herc - MFK Karvina, Czech Premier League

Played 87 minutes of a 1-0 defeat.

Tote Gomes, Connor Ronan - Grasshoppers, Swiss Challenge League (second tier)
Gomes got his usual full game and Ronan played 83 minutes in a 3-1 win.

On as sub: Jamie Pardington made his debut for Mansfield, coming on after their keeper got injured, playing the last 15 minutes without conceding.

Unused sub: Cutrone, Burr

Not in squad: Sanderson, Sarkic, Jordao, Herc, Shabani, Bonatini (all injured).

I didn't realise Campana had been injured for a while, so to come in and get a couple of goals is a good sign!

Sanderson confirmed as out for rest of season also

Edit: And I noticed Bonatini is injured, read on twitter somewhere

Never seen Gomes play but all these game must stand him in good stead.

I think they've been playing him at centre half (not sure if that's in a two or a three). Which is unfortunate as him coming back after a season of LB/LWB would be quite helpful, assuming he's any good.

Shabani is showing as injured on Transfermkt, since 21/03/21

LCB in a two. Looks a class above that level

We'll have to decide whether its Toti or Tote before we jump on the bandwagon.

All in for the Toti/Sanderson dream team then next season in our 4-2-3-1 which will definitely conquer the world. If Adama can cross properly and we have a striker.
Ronan plays in the 10, Giles on the left, Theo Corbanaldo on the right. Jordao and Otawosie as the two CMs with Campana as the striker

Adama can do one

Ronan starts for Grasshoppers, Buur on the bench

Toti and Leo must be injured

From the weekend:

Ryan Giles - Rotherham

Played back-to-back full games as The Millers picked up draws against Blackburn and Luton. Was more involved in last night's game where he put in two good crosses that should have been finished off. As it is, they need to win at Cardiff on Saturday to stay up, and even then it may not be enough.

Rafa Mir - Huesca, La Liga

Played the full game in a huge 1-0 win over Europa-chasing Sociedad. Drew a good save from the keeper before having a headed winner taken off him by a deflection off a defender's head into the net.

Christian Herc - M.K. Karvina, Czech Premier

Played 67 minutes of a 2-1 defeat.

Connor Ronan - Grasshoppers, Swiss Challenge League

Played the full game in a 2-1 defeat. Was unlucky not to score with two strikes well saved.

Unused subs: Pardington, Campana, Burr

Not in squad: Cutrone, Vinagre, Jordao, Gomes, Bonatini

Dongda He also made another sub appearance in the Chinese Super League. Bilic seems to like him.
