Loan Watch 2021-22

From this weekend:

Ryan Giles - Cardiff City, The Championship

Played 90 minutes on the left wing for Mick in his debut vs Barnsley. Got the assist for the opener - a pinpoint corner which Marlon Pack headed in - and could have had a couple more, putting in two wicked crosses from both flanks which his team mates should have put away.

Matija Sarkic - Birmingham City, The Championship

Kept a clean sheet on his debut in a 1-0 at Sheff Utd, but was lucky not to concede after a shot beat him but smashed off the post.

Bendeguz Bolla, Tote Gomes, Leo Campana - Grasshoppers Zurich, Swiss Super League

Bolla and Gomes got full games, while Leo was subbed with 15 to go.

As mentioned, Campana grabbed two, one a cheeky penalty and the other a backward header off a free-kick. Gomes got in on the act, too, with a strong header off a corner late on to make it 3-1.

Highlights:

On as sub: Dadashov came on for the last few minutes of Tondela's 3-0 win.

Unused subs: Corbeanu, Perry, Dongda He

Not in squad: Sanderson, Burr, Bonatini

Sounds like Taylor Perry made a good impression on his debut tonight. Played left of the midfield three I think

Yep, played an hour and could have scored a couple. Twisted and turned in the area to set himself up for a shot from a tight angle which was saved, and floated a lovely 25-yard chip just over the bar before that.

Joe Young (academy keeper) has gone on loan to runcorn linnets (8th tier) until January.
Really resisting the urge to make a shitty "Mighty Joe Young" joke.
Not sure if this is making me a better person or not...

Giles got another assist for Cardiff and MOTM.

Sarkic and Young both kept clean sheets for Birmingham and Runcorn Linnets respectively

Corbeanu not in sheff wed squad due to not training this week I think.

Taylor Perry got 10 minutes for Cheltenham in their 1-3 defeat to Wycombe

Matt Jackson targeted Cardiff for Giles, showing stats on his crossing accuracy from the last 2 seasons and highlighting how that would suit Moore. A fresh and much needed different approach to how we handle (none Grasshoppers) loans
You reckon we could get some of this thinking on the recruitment side too?

From the weekend:

Ryan Giles - Cardiff City, The Championship

Another game another assist for Giles. Played the full game and was put through one-on-one but missed. Made up for it later though with a beautiful floating ball in for Moore to seal the win.

Matija Sarkic - Birmingham City, The Championship

Another clean sheet at home to Stoke 0-0, but didn't have much to do.

Ruben Vinagre - Sporting Lisbon, Portuguese Primeira Liga

Started in a 2-1 win at Braga but was subbed off after an hour

Dongda He - Beijing Guoan, Chinese Super League

Played 78 minutes of a 4-2 win for Bilic's men.

Joe Young - Runcorn Linnets

Got a welcome clean sheet on his debut in a 2-0 win.

Grasshoppers won 5-0 in the cup. There's little info about it online, but none of the Wolves lads scored. Looks like Toti and Bolla played from the short highlights. No idea about the others.

On as sub: Patrick Cutrone - had a goal ruled out for offside, but showed good control and a sharp finish - (62), Renat Dadashov (79), Taylor Perry (80)

Not in squad: Sanderson, Corbeanu.

Quick midweek round-up.

Ryan Giles played a full game again as Cardiff drew 2-2 at Peterborough, while Matija Sarkic was on the losing side in a 2-0 defeat at home to Bournemouth. A few tiers down, Joe Young also let in a few as his team lost 3-1.

Not in squad: Sanderson, Corbeanu.
