Loan Watch 2021-22

I really really want his career to take off, wherever that is. Really good footballer
I would concur with that . He has always said that he wants to make it at Wolves , but they all say that I suppose .

My friend is a none football Director at Derby, but because of the current situation has to represent the club at games, so was at Sheff Utd on Saturday. He said MGW ran the game and is clearly playing a level below his ability. We then watched the Wolves game together in the pub. It's fair to say he he couldn't understand how he can't get a game for us.

Has he seen him play for Wolves?

Seems his better performances are always in someone else's shirt.

He’s too good for the championship, that much we know.

he looked really good in pre season, but clearly wasn’t first choice and he badly needs games.

unless we move to a back four soon I hope we don’t fall into the trap of recalling him. Let him smash it this season. Will only increase his value too

I'm not quite sure I understand the loans of Lonwijk or marques to teams in the top leagues of the Netherlands & Portugal. I just can't see them getting game time.

I reckon getting games in L2 would be better for them than sitting on the bench most, if not all of the time

Morgan not getting a game for us at this point has more to do with the fact that he doesn't really fit neatly into a position in a 3-4-3 than him being not good enough, IMO. If we do eventually move to a 4-2-3-1 or similar, suddenly he fits and he's our best option (arguably).

Lonwijk has made a few sub appearances already.

I think the idea is for them to get a taste of first team football which they weren’t getting here, and having to compete for a place on a team at a good level, training every day with pros. Hopefully they get a few starts as well.

are they season long loans? Might make sense if they are only until Jan

Morgan Gibbs-White - Sheffield United, The Championship

Another lively 90 minutes for MGW against Derby, involved in a lot of the attacking action but not involved in the only goal, a 90th minute penalty from Billy Sharp.

Matija Sarkic and Dion Sanderson - Birmingham City, The Championship

Both got 90 mins in 0-0 draw. Sarkic pulled off a great fingertip save, and Sanderson nearly got an assist by setting up a chance that hit the bar. First clean sheet in a while for Blues, so Dion might keep his place.

Ruben Vinagre - Sporting Lisbon, Portuguese Primeira Liga
Played 68 minutes in a 1-0 win vs Maritimo

Renat Dadashov - C.D. Tondela, Portuguese Primeira Liga
A full game and a goal in a 3-2 win - that's two winners in a row he's got now. This one was kind of fortunate, with the keeper palming the ball onto his head, but they all count.

Goal around 3.50:

Connor Ronan - St Mirren, SPL

Two goals in a 3-2 win over Aberdeen. His first wasn't quite as sweet as his second, but he still reacted quickly to a loose ball and finished well, albeit with a deflection.

First goal at the start:

Luke Matheson - Hamilton Academicals, Scottish Championship

Another full game, this time in a goalless draw at Dunfermline

Bendeguz Bolla, Leo Bonatini, Tote Gomes, Leo Campana - Grasshoppers Zurich, Swiss Super League

A fair bit going on here. Gomes, Bolla and Bonatini start against FC Sion in a 3-1 win. Leo sets up the opener with a clever dummy, before Bolla's traction engine makes it two. GHZ go 3 up just after half-time before Campana replaces Bonatini with 20 to go.

On as sub: Giles at HT in a 5-1 defeat, got the assist., Taylor Perry also came on at HT in a 1-0 loss, Cutrone came on for the last 10 minutes or so in a 4-2 win, while Lonwijk had the last few minutes in Sittard's 1-1 draw. Austin Samuels was a 72nd minute sub in the Connor Ronan masterclass.

Unused subs: Marques
Not in squad: Corbeanu, Smith
No game: Young, He.

A quick midweek roundup:

Not a great couple of days for our Football League lads. 13 goals conceded by their teams in four games. Ryan Giles unfortunately played 90 minutes in a 4-0 defeat at home to A*bion - poor old Mick. Sarkic and Sanderson both got full games in a 2-0 defeat at QPR, combined well to stop a shot on the line but couldn't do much about the goals. MGW also got a full game in a 2-0 defeat at Boro, had a couple of decent efforts with no success. Taylor Perry was subbed off after 70 minutes with his side 5-0 down at Sunderland. Whoops. Joe Young also played in a 3-3 draw against City of Liverpool.

Unused subs: Vinagre (Champs League) Sondergaard (Conference League)
Not in squad: Corbeanu

Does anyone know if there is an appearance trigger for Vinagre to be sold and if so how many? I think he has appeared 7 times to date.

Always goes off after 75 mins by the sound of it so maybe he has to play a full game ha. Been wondering if he is up and down constantly which means he gets knackered. Or he's just crap and the other LB is worse.

If there is it's not been published, only an option rather than a guarantee
