A situation where you probably need to finish the bird off rather than allow the slow painful death (leaving it to the magpie to do it for you the best option). Whether I’d have it in me to do it I don’t know (I felt bad treading on two snails the other day) but it’s the best option for the bird.

Probably what you don't want a 7 year old to witness, but it'll give her a better appreciation of nature and how dog eat dog it is out there.
