Man Utd 0-1 Wolves: Verdict and Vic burnt his backside thread.

Then don't ask Sa to suit up as he's only called on when someone else fucks up first?

Players are going to make mistakes, it is inevitable. What matters is whether or not the rest of the team can rise up to overcome those mistakes. We can, and we often do.

That's a huge part of what makes watching us so enjoyable at the moment. We're a proper team.
You don't put pressure on the keeper if you don't have to. He's there as the last line of defence.

Sa is also there for his distribution which is excellent.

I thought you admired defensive play and love a clean sheet. Best way to do that is not give the opposition free pot shots at goal.

I imagine your tune would change significantly if that silly mistake was 5 yards close to goal.

Of course it would, giving up a PK is much worse than giving up a FK.

I do love defensive play. Sa's save yesterday at the end is a good defensive play that helped overcome a poor one from Fabio. But a FK from that position is one the team needs to be prepared for. We were, the save was made, we got three points.

IMO calling on the last line of defense is an inevitability. You won't get through many games at this level without your GK making a save. Obviously we would like for him (Sa) to never be put under pressure but it's a fantasy to think that will ever actually be the case.

As I say, IMO it's far more important that we are strong enough as a team to overcome little mistakes (which, again, are inevitable) when they occur. That's perhaps the most impressive thing about this team: when we meet adversity on the pitch, 9 times out of 10 we overcome it. That's not nothing.

Sounds like you're saying it's doesn't matter if players defend properly as the keeper is there and that's his job.

The less you force the keeper to do, the less goals you'll concede.

It's not that it doesn't matter, simply that it's important that the GK is up to the job when those mistakes inevitably happen. You can't win often at this level without the entire XI, GK included, making points-earning plays from time to time.

I'm not sure how that becomes "defenders don't actually need to defend". Of course they bloody do. But I'm not going to sit and give Fabio pelters over trying to win the ball back in that situation. Yes, he got it wrong, but also yes, the team is strong enough to rise up and overcome when a young player makes a mistake.

Just to lighten the mood I had to laugh at Podence near enough having to go between a couple of sets of legs to celebrate with Moutinho :ROFLMAO:

Ronaldo and Fernandes have complained that Wolves’ players repeatedly distracted them by shouting Portuguese phrases, such as “passar and “disparar” at them.

The United duo lost the ball a combined 22 times throughout the match.

Oh boofuckinhoo you overpaid, junped up, arrogant cunts!

Was there ever a replay of the save? Don't think there was on Sky so I've only been able to watch it again on the highlights with the same angle.

Fake news account. There's no such tweet from MENnewsdesk.

No the whistle went too quickly.

On the subject of Ronaldo, what a fucking wanker he is. Arrogant, petulant, self important, he may score a few goals for them but the damage he is doing to the dressing room with his attitude outweighs all that. Absolutely laughable how he flounces off down the tunnel at the end of games and considering he was captain the other night, why was a suicidal Luke SHaw sent out for the post match interview?

Is there a video of Kilman owning Ronaldo anywhere? I'm currently +7 GMT and didn't get to watch the game sadly, although wouldn't mind watching a full replay of it either. Genuinely woke up, saw the score, and expected us to have done a grab and go - not equal possession and better shooting stats. Assume xG was way in our favour too

xG actually wasn't due to Fernandes missing an absolute sitter. We were ahead but only by 0.1 or so. Both were under 1.

0.92 for them, 0.99 for us I think is what I saw.

On the Wolves website you can watch player specific highlights. Pick Kilman and it'll show you every time he touched the ball.

Sorry but I don't buy the argument that Silva "had to do something" for the high boot at the end.

Look at the still below. It was Phil Jones, and he was about to head it forwards straight down into the path of either Semedo or Moutinho. Even if Jones did somehow manage to keep possession he had no real shot or pass on and would have been engulfed immediately.

Still a decent cameo though, that aside. But it could easily have cost us without a good save from Sa.

If you go back to before both had already committed to the challenge it'd probably be a much fairer representation of the situation. If he doesn't challenge, Jones doesn't stoop to head it and likely chests and possibly helps it into the box where Ronaldo is completely unmarked at the back post.

I'd rather a freekick 20 yards out than a free header 5. I'd have been really pissed off if he didn't challenge for that ball.

If only players could pause the game and take a quick peek from the tele angle then weigh up all possible outcomes before deciding whether to make a challenge or not...
Exactly. 9/10 players do what Fabio did - the ball was there to be won and he went for it. It’s the last minute of the game and you’re defending the edge of your box - you don’t stand there and watch Phil Jones win the ball uncontested. Mad that people are having a go at him about it, in fairness. I suspect any of our other players in Fabio’s position all do exactly the same thing.

I re-watched the match last night and everything that Fabio did, bar the challenge, was excellent. Some lovely touches, hold up play and skill. Very encouraging, but now the challenge for him is to do that more consistently.
