My girlfriends son (year 7) was given some maths homework and for the life of me I can't figure out one answer, even though I feel I should!
Using the numbers 4,5,6 and 7 once each he had to make every number from 1 to 10. He's got them all except 5. You can't go higher than 20 during the calculation so 4 × 6 isn't permitted for some reason.
For example, you can make 9 by 4 + 6 = 10 ÷ 5 = 2 + 7 = 9.
Anyone know how to make 5?
