His performance yesterday reminded me of a good thread I had seen on Twitter a couple of months ago looking at his stats.

https://twitter.com/StatmanJoey/status/1289903072781701120

He was pretty much top of the pile in terms of our stats yesterday

Max Kilman vs Fulham [Wolves Rank]

Touches | 69 [1st]
Pass Success | 95% [1st]
Key Passes | 2 [2nd]
Completed passes | 56 [2nd]

Now I know stats = quality doesn't always equate and they can be manipulated etc. etc. but I enjoy reading around them (yeah I like xG, sue me.)

But what I do think is that we have a very good talent on our hands and a more than capable back up. He definitely needs more minutes but it was good to see him slot into the team yesterday and look so comfortable, and it would seem that the underlying stats whenever he plays, backs up what I see when he's playing.

Its a tough one - I really like him and he has a lovely touch. I'm just not sure I would start him ahead of Saiss or Boly, but then at his age he needs to play.

I like him, and would like to see him replace Saiss see what he can do

Agreed it's tough. I would say he had a higher ceiling than Saiss but a) I don't think Saiss deserves to be dropped and b) is Kilman experienced enough to play over 5-10 games rather than just coming into the team every now and then.

He has never let us down and doesnt have the brainfarts Saiss is prone to. I think he is healthy competition for the spot . I also Thought Saiss looked decent enough in midfield. He wasnt really a wing back! Saiss in Midfield as a 70 min sub to close out a game to go from 3-4-3 to 3-5-2 seems a more sensible option than bringing on Joao or Vitanha especially if coupled by Traore up front to provide quick breaks.

Like I said yesterday, like the lad but was his performance enhanced by being between Coady and Saiss, there was always relative security there, think it may have been different if he had a proper wingback beside him who was down the other end of the pitch more often than not, don't get me wrong lets not take anything away from the lad thought he handled himself consummately but there would be sterner tests should he be there permanently.

Seems to be an able backup but we have had a relatively small sample size to judge him on. He definitely needs to go and play some games as he is 23 and barely made any senior appearances. After the international break we will have Ait Nouri to play LWB which will allow Marcal to cover LCB and if we get other injuries Dendoncker can slot in and Boly move to LCB if needed. We probably have enough cover to loan him out - if he stays here he wont get enough games.

He definately needs games - if it’s not to he be with us, we should loan him out - there’s the potential to be a really good player there, once he gets some experience.

Yeah, given his path here, I'd say he definitely needed quality full time coaching, but now he needs to start week in, week out. Given he won't be at his playing peak for another 4 years, I think he's got a really high ceiling, but he just needs game time now.

He seems very composed & has decent control without being a player that really shines.

Clearly needs more game time which I'm not sure he will get enough of here (though every time I have seen him play, either live or on the box he's been very solid)

We are only likely to let him go out if Marcal's & Jonny's injuries are going to be over soon. Jonny is unlikely to be back till sometime next year so expect to stay until Jan at the very least to provide cover/back up.

He gave away a free kick in a very dangerous area with a Saisseque mistimed lunge.

I agree with everyone else, he needs to play whether that's here or elsewhere

Looking at just this season alone then i would say he should start against Leeds.

That was fine though as at that time Fulham were refusing to put free kicks near the area directly into the box. I presume because they don't feel Mitro is very good in the air and can't bully defenders so they are better off working the ball round the area looking for his clever runs into tight spaces

Their whole approach in that regard was strange. Mitrovic's strengths aren't a secret, you play to those or you don't play him. Silly really given this previous success against us with both Fulham and Newcastle and what the scouting from the previous week would have shown

Coady's 2 easiest games v Mitro have come when Parker is in charge of him. I think Kilman had more dealings with him than Coady yesterday

I'm sure I saw a stat which said Fulham have played way more crosses into the box that any other team (up to yesterday), it was clearly not working so I guess they thought they would try somethign else.

Coady's diving header to take it off Mitro's toe was both brilliant and desperate.

Was done well - could have gone wrong

Too heavy a touch & it was goalbound - no touch & it was in Mitrovic's arc to shoot at the goal.

Excellent comment there Parkin, I've always found your posts to be most salient, possibly even my favorite poster, I'd go as far to say.......a friend :)
