Mick McCarthy era

I actually thought winning the 3rd division, 4th division and Sherpa Van trophy was the best Ive enjoyed in my life time. Going away to stand on terraces (When my legs were ok) the away days back then and the early 90s were simply amazing and piss on any away days now. Seeing Steve Bull and Andy Mutch ruling defences. Winning 5 or 6 every week. I pity the folk that never got to see those days.

This is why we are a Championship club. No ambition. No desire to test ourselves against the very best. Big fish in a small pond mentality......

Its no different to the older folk preferring The Dougan, Richards, Hibbit days. Absolutely nothing to do with small pond mentality. The fact that it was a hell of a lot cheaper back then, the old Pathfinders coaches we used to go on was packed with the same folk every week, standing on terraces, the whole singing culture back then was a joy to behold.

Yes, it's all Quirk's fault.

Agree with Quirk.

Would love the same sort of Atmosphere and feeling at Molineux (but with us in the Top Flight) that I experienced back in the day. Pretty much hate everything about "modern" football

We all say that the games were uninspiring in the PL, and yes a lot of them were full of negative football, but it's not exactly any better in the championship. A lot of our home games this year have been dull, even the ones we've won. Blackpool at the weekend was shit, we had 2 shots on target and the first was 87th minute. Games like Bolton and Blackburn weren't exactly crackers either. The atmosphere has been dire this year.

At least in the PL there is s big crowd, big atmosphere and the opportunity for better quality football.

My issue with our football (particularly in the second half of 2009/10) was actively playing for a 0-0 from minute one against relatively modest opposition like Fulham and Stoke. Albion did the same on Monday at a struggling Everton. It's borderline unwatchable. I'm a big fan of pragmatism over idealism but not taken to that degree.

A central midfield of Henry and Mancienne with Foley playing where Van La Parra plays for us now, mind numbingly shit and negative.

No I preferred it when we played teams like Sunderland or West Ham and had a good proper game of football.

But my comment does ring a lot of truths, maybe not with you but with a hell of a lot of other fans. The amount of Japanese tourists at Molineux whilst we were in the Prem was staggering and pathetic in my eyes. I don't want to see that at my club even if its not as large amount as Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal.

This was my issue.

I was really pleased to see that KJ had said that we need to keep passing the ball out from the back and that that is what good Premier League teams do.

Mick's tactics in general were all about the here and now and as a result it affected our future negatively. I don't blame Mick for everything but there was a real losing culture by the end of his time here (then amplified by TC, Solbakken and Saunders)

I don't have a problem with that whatsoever in all honesty.

I preferred last season more than a hell of a lot of the games we had in the Premier League. I honestly do not give a shit if the opposition's centre forward is Sergio Aguero or Reuben Reid - if I want to watch Aguero, I'll watch Sky Sports or MOTD. And I do, I love watching Aguero, he's ace.

But I go to watch Wolves matches to see my team, I really don't care who we play. It's also about the day out. I understand why a lot of people disagree with this but that's just the way I feel about it.

I do. Id rather have a seat taken up by a Wulf rather than a Johnny-come-lately that's only coming to spunk over Wayne Rooney.

If we're competing at a higher level (and indeed the highest that we can, domestically) it stands to reason you're going to see better players playing for Wolves, not just for the opposition.

You'd rather watch Steven Fletcher in a Wolves shirt than Jake Cassidy.

.

Yep, love seeing Greg Halford and Stefan Maierhofer knocking them bandy in the Prem....

Naturally - and obviously I want my club to prosper as much as we can. But ultimately it ain't as much fun for me watching us hang on for a 0-0 against one of the 'big boys', which would - understandably in most cases - be a good result.

From a purely selfish POV, I saw 4 matches live over 3 seasons when we were in the Premier League but I'll be attending my 9th of this season away at Bolton on the 31st. If we get promoted it'll be back to 2 games a season if I'm lucky.

Equally, in the Premier League you will be able to see all of them on streams.

I went to 4/5 a season in the Premier League, but I think it would be more now as I'm older and go to games on my own as I have done in the past two seasons more often.

Obviously I'm there to see Wolves, but I want us to be the best we can be, I've not been lucky enough (like many) to see a really good top flight Wolves team.
