New - The things that really annoy you

Let's just say I will be delighted to have a car again from Tuesday.
Prefer the 3 hour+ drive home

GPF on my Sportage, got to take it in next Friday to get it cleaned.
Dealership tell me I should be bombing up and down the Motorway every other day.
Well you can fuck off with that.

It’s a bit misleading but the dealer is speaking part truth and part fudging the issue.

‘Some’ of the particles get burned off as part of the regeneration cycle, so a longer, hotter, higher rpm journey will burn off more, and slower, colder stop-starts will see them build up. Eventually they build up too high, trip the warning lights and off you have to trot to the dealer.

They are right that the motorway-type journeys help, but are not the panacea - the net result is always an increase so you’re just delaying the inevitable - the things clog eventually anyway.

I’ve had several vans (DPF) which have been mostly motorway use with very few stop-start journeys, so essentially ideal conditions, and the filters have always blocked and needed work eventually. That repair costs a fair whack too.

That is something the EV guys never have to worry about to be fair.

I’ve been doing a lot of research into the petrol engine exhaust regeneration filter and it should be ok even on frequent short journeys, I just think new petrol cars are being over engineered to meet emissions regulations.

Crewe - Manc.
Manc- Leeds
Leeds - Kirkstall Forge

Then a couple to get to and from the office to Leeds for the Hotel.

Then the 3 train journey home.

Saved myself extra trains yesterday by travelling up in the evening and not doing the extra Kirkstall Forge back and forth
2 trains to leeds plus 1 to the local destination? Seems reasonable to me.

There aren't any direct trains to leeds from the west coast mainline IIRC.

I wasn't moaning about the number of trains required just that 1 company messed up the journey, despite only using them once.

Northern, Transpennine and another I can't recall the name of other than being Welsh were all spot on.

Ah, with you. Enjoy your M6, M60, M62, M621 slog.

I don't mind it to be honest. Few hours of no one bothering me is bliss.

Miss a big chunk of the traffic driving home by cutting across to the M56 and then the bypass to rejoin M6 at J19.

Drive up is generally straight forward just the final few miles where I hit the traffic.

I used to do leeds to Stone to leeds about 20 years ago and it was shite then. Have they improved the A556 through to the M56?

Yep. The bypass so you don't have to drive through the villages is great. Just flows between the 2 motorways.
