New - The things that really annoy you

work teams site just went mental discussing mcdonalds price increases. with all the shit going on in the world, that news item seems to have really touched a fucking nerve.
what really pisses me off even more about it is the way it developed into a mass pile on with loads of people joining in, yet when genuine work stuff/questions are asked it's a ghost town.

Five Guys has just opened nearer me in Tamworth. Had a look at the menu and jesus wept, the prices are ridiculous. £9 for a cheeseburger? Get fucked.

I get that you can make the argument that they are de facto world champions purely on the basis that few other countries play baseball or football to the extent Americans do,
Not really. I can make up any game and call myself the World Championship by that logic.

Five Guys has always been stupid money. So not worth it.

As for people latching on to McDonald's prices going up...well, that's how it works. The vast majority of people aren't interested in talking about macroeconomics. They notice when they actually have less money in their pocket or no change from a tenner after buying something. Like I was banging on for years on a technical level about what a shitshow Brexit is/would be, but the masses only notice when it takes hours to get through an airport or they have to pay mobile charges abroad again. I can go on about what a folly selling Channel 4 is on numerous levels, the majority of folk won't notice or care until the quality drops off. They're all debates that go on above their heads.

You can't blame people for that, this community isn't representative of society.

I'm probably more upset at Channel 4 being sold off than anything else. It will just end up like all the other commercial shit tip channels, and whatever your political allegiance isn't the news meant to challenge the ruling party? Its part of living in a democracy and one of the few genuine freedoms we have. If the ruling body is that fragile that you can't withstand criticism then there's something more sinister going on. No matter what side of an argument you should always try to understand both sides.

The beeb keeps on getting bashed and I have no idea why, having spent time in New Zealand where they would fit a commercial break inside a advert if they could, to come back home and watch a TV channel with no adds was so refreshing. Its also responsible for some brilliant output (although to counter this they do produce Eastenders)

Also bravo for Alan for challenging our national self importance for not putting our countries name in front of our Football Association, when it was created it was of course the only Football Association. Obviously the irony of a nation that holds world series within its own borders is not completely lost, I mean do you even ask anyone else if they'd like to play rounders with you?😁

Rounders, lol, you forgot the Netball sport that pays millions to it’s players, and the Rugby with padding and helmets

Channel 4 won't be sold. It won't get through the Lord's and will take so long that the next government will have a manifesto pledge not to sell it.

It obviously shouldn't be sold, it's Dorries with her weird agenda as she's that horrible mixture of thick and nasty.

I love how she was banging on about how C4 couldn't possibly compete with Netflix and then almost immediately Netflix announced plunging subscriber numbers. She's the Richard Keys of Government Ministers.

She's summed up by when she said that 96% of people supported the privatisation of C4, when actually it was 96% opposed it...🤦🏼

Been rough for about 6 days, very flu-like, aching muscles, aching joints, tired, just so very, very tired. Has to be Covid right? Tests all negative. Tiredness gets worse, at times just completely knackered doing nothing. Even jaw and gums start aching. Something odd going on. Tests still negative.

Late last night the Mrs notices a large circular rash on one of my butt cheeks, a bit of a corker. Hmmm, that doesn’t look right at all.

Phone the surgery first thing, straight in, bloody hell, Lyme disease! One of the dog-walking neighbours told me a little while ago the common is infested with ticks and to watch out for the dog but didn’t bank on getting bitten by one of the bastards myself. Not all bites result in Lyme disease apparently but when they do you know about it. Fingers crossed it’s been caught early and have dodged a bullet with no long term damage done. Reading a bit about it it can be bad news if untreated.

Bloody hell, Covid, root canals, Lyme’s, we’re all falling apart.
Turns out you were communicating with aliens!!

Nice with lemon in a drink as well tbh.

Turns out you were communicating with aliens!!

Wow!

It’s an intergalactic substance, literally bringing in codes from the beginning of time, it’s a gift and is for the most deeply spiritual people on the planet!

I’ll take that any day, that’s the epitaph written, thanks.

Didn’t realise I was spiritual, never mind one of the most deeply on the entire planet. Awesome. Never thought that roughly a month in with a numb left shoulder and an aching right hip that Lyme could possibly be a gift either, but hey, what do you know. It always felt about as welcome as Dean Saunders at a Wolves reunion dinner but how wrong can you be.

Cheers guys, what a forum. All makes sense now 👍

Apologies for banging on about Lymes but no harm in getting the message out there and to get any bites checked out right away. Been having ongoing symptoms with numb left shoulder, sore right hip and now a right elbow that doesn’t open and close properly getting worse by the day.

In to the docs this morning and starting another three weeks with a different antibiotic to hopefully kill this bastard bacteria off properly with monitoring thereafter.

Could always be worse and still reasonably confident everything will be A-ok long term but let’s see. Not sure whether to feel relieved or guilty for being able to access GP care quickly, but it does make you think about the state of primary care and the potential negative affects of those not able access it quickly for sure.

Fucking hell. Imagine being there all day. I'd rather have a pint with Jeffrey Dahmer.
