Newcastle 1-0 Wolves: Verdict Thread

When Chiquinho arrived didn’t Lage mention Chem Campbell being of a similar level. I don’t think he was blooding kids for the sake of it with his initial selection but throwing on Campbell, who by no means did anything wrong, could have been a statement to Shi that the squad doesn’t have the depth he had asked for.
I’d have put Chiquinho on at half time for Trincao and Semedo for Jonny or Marcel. We needed to progress up the pitch and the side was dreadfully shy of pace.

too many off days from too many players, but in particular the back 3 were all incapable of playing a pass directly to a team mate throughout last night, except to each other. Every forward pass was either a hoof, or misplaced and gave away possession.

Can't understand what Lage sees in Trincao and I can't understand why, after so many games offering a next to zero contribution that Lage keeps playing him. Just what the fuck is he showing in training that impresses Lage so much? Absolute lightweight.
Whilst I get Fabio seems to be improving slowly, he's still a long way off PL quality. What few chances come his way 100% go begging.
Is our bench so bereft of quality that these two are the best we've got?

And God knows why he waited till the 81st minute to make any attempt at improving.
If the loss of Neves and Podence results in such a sterile performance, such a paucity of quality then I think 8th is as far as we'll get.
That was just shocking!

There's a brilliant photo in the Guardian showing the exact moment that diving, cheating bastard from Burnley kicked Sa's outstretched leg and fell over. The ref should have booked him for assaulting Sa...

For me luckily for Hwang is that I'm pretty sure he can play in a forward two giving him another option in the starting eleven, however Trincao is your bog standard wide player and thats it. For me I think send Trincao back and look for a better option. Trincao will be a good player in a league thats not as hard but he will never adapt to the hard aspect of the Premier League.

You gotta let it go mate, I agree with you, it's fucking criminal for that to be allowed, but it's been like that for a long time now and it appears the authorities don't give a fuck. Goalkeepers and defenders have to adapt to the cheating wankers.

Yep. I mentioned it from the photo that was posted in the thread a few pages back. Blatent dive but VAR just checked the club badge.

When VAR was first brought on the scene, this was the sort of incident it was highlighted as stopping. Dragging the feet/legs into the challenger to initiate contact.
Sa was naive in putting himself into such a vulnerable position but Wood certainly cheated by initiating the contact. I wasn't surprised at the awarding of a penalty but very disappointed that VAR didn't over-rule.

Would there be a world in which Adama would gladly come back after being shunned by his boyhood club.. I would like him back and signing a new contract,

The question is would Lage want him back?

Their is maybe some traction in swapping Trincao for Adama, then swapping a Sporting player for Trincao.

If it’s a choice between Trincao, Hwang or Adama it’s fairly obvious which is the best option.
