Would use the Donck & Neves in midfield this time (we will probably use Moutinho more sparingly this season & have Neto who can take the corners).

Rest of the team the same apart from Marcal back instead of Saiss - the latter has done OK but it's not a natural position for him

Patricio
Semedo - Boly - Coady - Kilman - Marcal
Neves - Saiss
Neto - Jiminez - Podence
I didn't think Dendoncker was all that effective yesterday.

Won 7 more aerial duels than anyone else on the pitch ;)

I thought him and Moutinho were very good and should keep their places personally! Don't think we should start playing Saiss in a position that he has only really played once or twice for us in this league

Could have said the same about playing him at LWB to be fair.

Donk is good in a 3-4-3 so I’d keep him in there and bring Moutinho on for him if we’re not ahead with half an hour to go.

id always start Neves as I think he’s a fantastic player who can contribute at both ends of the pitch.

True! But I don't think Nuno will play him there in the long term (nor will he in midfield)

Don't really disagree, but I think he could definitely fit in there if needed.

More a hope than expectation, my team.

I thought Dendoncker was generally decent yesterday, one of our better players.

I feel like Dendoncker is less effective in games where we're expecting to dominate the ball, like I would hope we will Vs Newcastle.

Donk or Neves needs to play in every game. They read the game defensively and mop up in front of the back three and make defensive runs. Moutinho doesn't track runners at all.

Its about time we turned them over at home. They blow so hot and cold. Depends which Newcastle turns up. We do need to take the game to them a bit more than we have been against teams. The first half could be key here.

Donck isn’t as good on the ball but I’d still have him in the team because his energy opens up space for others. Him playing in midfield against Everton at home allowed Neves to dictate the game and opened up space for the other forward players. Same in the first half against Sheff Utd. Having Neves and Moutinho holding hands makes us easier to play against if a team drops off.

I would have Donck in just to try and deal with the threat of ASM on the break, he's an excellent player.

They certainly do blow.

They pretty much never play well, a large proportion of points they get under Bruce tend to be some form of daylight robbery. As I say, by pretty much all the metrics they were the worst team in the division last season. This season they've allowed vastly more shots on goal than anyone else, it isn't even close.

Good Lord, I've seen some bad calls on this forum but this is right up there. Donk is fantastic - does the dirty work that no one really appreciates. As someone else has already said, it's not a coincidence that we have won every game he's started and lost the two where he was benched. We simply have to have his energy in the middle or we get overrun.

Donk + Neves from the start for me for this one.

Marcal comes in for Saiss (I don't think Nuno will do this, I reckon he goes with the same side) - but a more natural left sided defender who is a bit more mobile than Romain would be great - especially against a side who I think we should be beating.

Patricio
Semedo - Boly - Coady - Kilman - Marcal
Neves - Donk
Podence - Jimenez - Neto
Having the likes of Moutinho, Saiss & Adama to bring off the bench is a great place for us to be.

Yeah, it has to be Donk + Neves/Moutinho for me. Preferably Neves at the moment.

The three of them give us different things to be fair - Donk is the least creative of the three, but gives us great energy and defensive cover as well as Arial ability. I wouldn’t be offended if he missed out in some of the games we expect to dominate.
