Nottingham Forest 0-4 Wolves: EFL Cup 2nd Round - Verdict Thread

Nice win, some nice goals, nice to add Podence back to the squad. Let's not go too OTT about beating the team who are bottom of the Championships B team though
If we're allowed to go postal at narrowly winning against Chorley I think we're allowed to go a little bit mental at smashing Forest, especially with the style of play

Was that forest’ first team out do we know?

How did Podence look?

did we set up 3 4 1 2 or 343 with MGW and Podence wide?
No they had a few kids out.

Yea, some perspective needed. But...... good to get off the mark, and looking at the text feed we played some very good football. You can only beat who is in front of you. As someone else said better than a dour 1-0 against Chorley. Hopefully now they know where the actual net is they might hit it more often....

It was also lots better than Stoke last season. That was properly dire.

10 changes to the worst team currently in the Championship. Not looking to pour cold water on actually scoring goals and the more attacking style was clear to see on Sunday, just pointing out what we were actually beating

Its satisfying in so much we've gone out to so much tat in this Cup over the years and we've gone there and had a proper go.

Its also pleasing that the likes of Podence/MGW and others have had a few confidence boosters tonight.

That said, Forest are in a complete state so the satisfaction should be in isolation tonight. Its good to think about something else other than transfer news though.

Let's not forget we made 7 as well though

I think it falls somewhere between the 2. Awful performances in this Cup for the last 2 decades is in the past, but he's right tonight was totally different. Equally the fact we played a stronger side even taking depth into account than they did, does make their team relevant. As I replied to Sam we still would have lost 1-0 last year

Not really much to add to what I put in the first half. Game continued in a similar fashion.

Fabio still wasn’t really doing much and he was about to be hooked. But Saiss scored from the corner (some well worked short ones tonight as well!) and be managed to stay on.

He then Harassed the CB who dallied on the ball and then drove towards the box in the inside right channel before cutting it back to Podence who put it away well.

Forest then gave up and we looked really confident. Trincao coming on and MGW going to the other side helped Fabio and the team. Lots of nice interplay between the front 3 which created the third.

RAN went down with cramp and the physio ran round gave him a pouch but he still couldn’t continue. Hopefully just cramp as his dribbling was insane. No idea how he didn’t come on LWB on Sunday (a lot earlier).

Hopefully a nice draw in the next round so some of these guys can get another run out and we can progress

For comparison, this was the side we put out against Chorley. Same formation, same wingbacks, same midfield - and we were absolutely turgid.F784343D-0AED-4C7D-8336-A271A8C8D351.jpeg

All four in front of the Wolves fans.

I can only assume that was what we were waiting for...
