Pre-season friendly thread

I have watched all the games on Facebook and have to say bearing in mind he has only had the whole squad for about 7 days and worked with fringe and youth players I can see real signs of positivity for next season.

we just need to remember he is actually trying to change the style, pace, tempo and tactics with only 3 fresh faces and one of those is a keeper.

the same issues with sais will still be there till a replacement is bought in truth but Mosquera has looked very good and time in the middle with coady and boly will see him come on leaps and bounds.

look at how much more Kilman is being allowed to go forward and play with the ball and use his strengths shows that there is a light at the end of the tunnel we just need to be patient.

Bruno can’t fix all the issues left by Nuno over night, but he is having a good stab at them now!

Well I’m more interested in the last friendly of pre-season than I have been for a while. I wonder if Aspas will play? Good practise for stopping a prolific 34 year old…

Would normally agree with you. But seeing as Stoke and Cov are a week out from their season starting and that Stoke team beat Villa, I think there are signs to be positive and some of the youth have put in good displays and with a manager and coaching team who are based on developing youth there are reasons to be cheerful.

my Leicester city season ticket holding mate at work is WORRIED for this season as he said they have looked awful in pre-season

Oh I’m not saying there aren’t positive signs etc. I’m just genuinely really interested in the match, much more so than usual for pre-season 🙂

Don’t worry mate, sorry if I made you think I took a negative from your post. Like you every year I would normally be focused on the last game to show how we look, but this year I have looked forward to every game and seen a growth or improvement each game in some way whether it is the quality of the press or the uplift in form for MGW.

I think there will be many who are afraid to admit that they are paying more attention and enjoying this pre-season far more than they thought they would after Nuno was sacked.
With how Lage coaches, instructs and communicates with the players, I don’t think there is anywhere for them to hide or even look devoid of ideas as the guidance, ideas and tactics are constantly coming at them something that was lacking nearly all of last season.

Twitter flapping that we've only sold about 11k for the Celta Vigo game.

Four things:

1) No shit, the club are pissing a lot of people off, many aren't in the mood to give them even more money at the moment, especially for a kickabout. Friendlies are almost always absolutely shit

2) It's Tuesday, the game is on Saturday. We'll sell more between now and then

3) I will say that those who moan about "never being able to go to Molineux" (which isn't even true) might care to have a look...

4) There's a largely silent majority I would say who aren't buying into Lage being the answer. Not outright slagging him off (I don't think anyone is doing that as such) but he doesn't have any cachet at all as it stands, and it's not as if we've even looked particularly good in the games so far. So why would you bother? We're playing a proper game two weeks later

I'm not going, not been to a home friendly since Leicester in 2017.

I think its more along the lines that they've pissed off the fans who do go to these games, partly to increase their membership points to help get early access to tickets to games that more people are 'interested' in.

I would be going this Saturday but stuff em

I get the "I want to go back ASAP" thing, as pessimistic as I am about the manager and our current prospects, I have missed it and I am looking forward to aspects of it all.

But I want it to be a day with all my mates there, a full house and a proper game with plenty riding on it. Not with most of the people missing, a sub 20k crowd and a 60% paced game where it doesn't matter what happens. Might have been different if we were suddenly playing an amazing brand of football but we look a bit shit, to be honest.

If we get drawn at home in the League Cup I won't be doing that either. In this case their stupid £35 increase on my ST has cost them, I'd have spent more than that on the friendly and at least one (possibly more) early cup game. As it is, they can go whistle.

I think there's more pessimism on this forum than in the general fan base.

I'm pissed off with the loyalty points and the team looks a bit lopsided. I don't really know anything about the manager which is a neutral but he's walking into some big shoes imo, no matter how bad it was last season.

I was going to this and really looking forward to our first match since (ugh) Brighton, and then… positive Covid test in the house and we’re all locked down ☹️

I would be going but for the stupid adult child of mine.

Won't be doing this - friendly with an awkward kick off time for me down here really doesn't attract. The email indicates that it gets 10 loyalty points though I thought that they had binned any benefit off from them.

Am up for the Spurs game on the 22nd & not in need of a 'fix' as managed to get into the MU one at the end of last season.

On the attendance, we had less than 20k v Villareal and that was when we were all hyper positive about things
