Premier League: Relegation Race

Went to the Stoke friendly in the summer of 18 in a t-shirt.. thought it would be a) warm and b) exciting as Stoke were busy signing attacking players. Finished 0-0 (IIRC) and it was bastard freezing, they weren’t even serving beer.
Easily the coldest ground in the UK, fact.

Sat there in coat and gloves in August before now when it was lovely and sunny.

Sat in the main stand in winter with the wind whipping between stands is no fun at all.

It's not, it's Oldham.

I have been to Prague when it was -15. Still felt warmer than Oldham.

Wasn’t that cold was it? You hadn’t had enough beers!

Bouremouth at home when Mings went off injured though, turns out a tshirt and a jacket wasn’t the right attire, could barely watch I was that uncomfortable.

yeah I don’t remember it being too bad but it was a 5:30 kick off I think so I’d had extra time to drink...

Fulham away when we lost 5-0 under TC was very cold and wet. Awful day all round.

The old Lansdowne road would easily trump all the above for coldness. Only 2 sides were covered, behind the goals was old concrete terraces and the ground is right beside the sea, so the wind comes straight off the Irish Sea and into your face.
I went to see Ireland vs USA in a friendly before the WC in 2002 and it pissed rain for the entire game and the wind chill must have been about -10. I didnt thaw out for days.

Shaping up for another Bruce’s special performance

Big blow for Fulham tonight,

Remaining games
Villa (a)
Wolves (h)
Arsenal (a)
Chelsea (a)
Burnley (h)
Saints (a)
Man Utd (a)
Newcastle (h)
Newcastle's remaining fixtures though :ROFLMAO:

Tottenham Hotspur H
Burnley A
West Ham United H
Liverpool A
Arsenal H
Leicester City A
Manchester City H
Sheffield United H
Fulham A

Fulham still in with a big chance of getting passed them.

Newcastle might only get 3 or 4 points before the final day

Depends on whether they manage to shit house a point here and there. Fulham have improved but aren’t really any better off than expected. It’s ok winning at Liverpool but losing at home to Leeds negates that plus drawing at Albion and BHA.

I think Newcastle will probably be sat on 33-34 going into the Fulham game I think Fulham will be on about 32/33.

What about Burton at home though? That was like nothing I have ever experienced before or since.
That game in 17/18 season still doesn't seem real to me. The day before I drank way too much watching Cheltenham Gold Cup day in Oxford. Got to the RL on matchday in a zombie state and barely managed a couple of pints pre match.

I swear it was bright sunshine when I walked into the subway and snowing at the other end! Still dont believe it was bizarre weather that day, still think it was just me!

I think we had the Portuguese guys over that day too.

Yes we did. It was the weekend of the Beast from the East part 2.
Blue skies walking to the pub. Blizzards walking to the ground. One side of the pitch covered in snow and the other was fine due to the shadow of the roof.
We got massively delayed at Birmingham airport the next day but met Kightly and Steven Ward

Burton im sure snow was falling off the North Bank roof onto fans in the lower tier.

That win gives Albion a glimmer nothing more still have to play.

saints (h)
Leicester (a)
Villa (a)
Wolves (h)
Arsenal (a)
Liverpool (h)
West Ham (h)
Leeds (a)

absolute Max I can see them reaching is 30 points

The coldest football ground for me was the (old) Shay, Halifax.

Form doesn't replace today, but if you are WBA then Southampton, Villa, Wolves, Leeds all games they should be viewing as winnable, at least in the context of their hopes.

I'm going all cyber on this, Albion will get one more win all season, against us

That would be annoying although not another Sunderland/Huddersfield at least as doesn't look like they are going to finish bottom.

We've never been part of the conversation apart from for the paranoid and unrealistic. Even if we lose we'll be 6 points + goal difference ahead with them only having 6 games left. Fulham have also lost their last 3 and Newcastle haven't won in 7

I do concede that I won't be completely dismissive if we lose on Friday, but even if we do it'd still be highly unlikely

Yep unlikely but can’t be ignored as I said we’re involved on the periphery. Reality is as poor as Newcastle and Fulham have been we aren’t very good either. But 1 win or 3 draws should be enough to keep us fine.

Have we ever lost 10 in a row, even in the dark days of the mid-80s?

Because that's the only way we're going down, and even then it wouldn't be a sure thing.
