Rugby League Thread

Nice game last night, I do love a drop kick to win a game, although hate the reverse.

My lad was proper buzzing about it, mission accomplished!
Been thinking about getting to a game, I've been enjoying the Rugby League on TV past couple of weeks and looks a good atmosphere too. Need to convince the kids if I'm going to get a pass though.

It's a good crack, attendances have been down but you can usually pick a decent game to go to.

The magic weekend is an excellent weekend up in Newcastle or the cup final or grand final are equally a decent display.

If your picking a league game I'd go for a local Derby to get some atmosphere in there.

For value for money you can't beat it, they also have plenty of opportunities to see the players either before or after games.

Yeah it was, Hull are a pretty decent outfit, a big pack and well organised defense, fans were entertaining too.

Think we're still missing a player or two, but certainly not at Full back. Jai Field is something else to watch, once we get French back up to speed we will be electric.

Jai Field is a strange one. How old is he? 24? Yet he's only played a couple of dozen 1st grade games in the NRL for 3(?) different sides.

Would appear that way, missed nearly all of last season with hamstring injury. I think he was just looking for a club to get a run of games and get in the shop window.

I fully expect him to be gone next season after doing enough over here to get a contract back in Oz. The kids electric, pace to burn and he's more than competent at everything else.

Not for me :) could have done with Hardaker on the pitch but hey ho, don't think it would have made too much of a difference. Saints have some bloody big lads, we've just made too mamy mistakes

We've improved massively since last season but still missing something, just hope we're back on track Monday when I'm up there against Wakefield.

Well what a nice response from Fridays dissapointing result. Field and French are terrifyingly fast, the poor Wakefield lad trying to cover the pair of them for Frenchs try, almost felt sorry for him!

Some really good tries today in a bit of sunshine, nothing better, also Smith kicking 9 out of 9 was pleasing.

At least Wigan gave me cause to smile the weekend. Great game for the neutral, and a good advert on C4. I really hope after the sell off they remain on board, it's so good to have games broadcast on terrestrial TV. So much better for the game

Keeping up with what's turned into my personal blog it would seem.

Friday night on a bit of a whim I went up to catch Wigan at Warrington away, what a good choice that turned out to be. It was an absolute belter of a game, watching us smash Warrington in emphatic fashion was certainly entertaining.

The Halliwell is a cracking little stadium, just the right size for league and with terraces it gets a real atmosphere going and there was a decent crowd all helped by a sunny Friday evening and a long Bank Holiday weekend.

It makes me sad that we moved from Central Park into the DW. I was gutted at the time and with the new owner it's making it look an even bigger mistake surrendering our own ground.

Think I'll be going to a few more 'away' games this season, definitely a good crack.

It's entwined with memories of my Granda so my memories will always be of happy times there.

The DW is too big for 90% of the games and it's just not the same.

Challenge Cup final is a good watch, Huddersfield playing really well - got to imagine Wigan can’t be so bad second half though.

What a day! Child's is an odd official but we won out in the end, never give up this team. Huddersfield were good value though and if they had a kicker would have been out of site, some poor play by Wigan kept on giving it away. The Giants clearly targeted French on the wing

Spurs ground is splendid apart from the nightmare to get away from it I would prefer it to Wembley for the finals moving forward.

This should go on the happy thread but my eldest couldn't make it as he was playing football at a tournament at the Hawthorns where he scored a trademark long range effort in the last minute to win a game😁

She's been an avid sports fan ever since she saw Steve Davis get a hole in one at Wimbledon.
