Southampton 1-2 Wolves. Verdict Thread

Much better 2nd half performance, why can’t we do it in the first half too

just dare to play some pressing and attacking football...not always of course..you have to adjust a bit when you play the top teams

thank the heavens for inconsistent penalties

Delighted relegation concern thread is just about redundant now. Most pleasing was seeing Patricio back to his best.

Kudos for the turnaround - first half was abysmal.

Second half was positive, progressive - Adama looked like the scary player he can be - Neves ran the midfield.

Jose looks like he can’t be bothered.

Nuno - see, it’s better when we attack and give them problems.

Finally a bit of luck with the penalty and Saints fell apart like a pack of cards. Plenty of positives in second half should not mean a woeful first half is forgotten though.

The second half was brilliant, keep Neto and Traore on opposite sides please. Doesn’t make up for the terrible first half though, we absolutely have to start games faster, be more aggressive and stop being so bloody scared of the opposition. Fantastic goal from Neto to win it, I’d personally rather see Fabio starting as I’m not convinced with Jose at all.

It only worked when the team went 3421 with Neto and Adama as inside forwards. It then created space for Nrves to move onto and pull the strings.

I thought Patricio looked a street ahead of his recent performances. Sharp of his line, good handling and good saves. His best game for a long while.
WJ didn’t do enough for me. This should have been a game to suit his strength against their centre halves.

it’s great to have a win and a performance to boot

What a difference a team talk makes - Neto and Traore were different gravy 2nd half.
Team talk and switching inside forwards to be actual inside forwards instead of shit wingers.

Hopefully that's the last we see of this horseshoe shit (and the analyst who promoted it).

Neves my MotM for a superb second half.

Nice to see a high press winning the ball back higher up the pitch.

First half was utterly abysmal.

Second half it felt like Nuno sort of stumbled on something that we could potentially use from now on. Could Adama on the left, Neto on the right work going forwards?

It felt like they linked with the full backs better and also got closer to WJ and went inside as well as out. We seemed to have a bit more balance.

Jonny is more intelligent than Nelson, so maybe he might be better at linking up with Adama ahead of him?

The penalty was nailed on. Arm out away from his body gets given 100% of the time nowadays. Doesn't matter how close it was. Donk's didn't even hit his arm, no wonder the check was so quick.

Big credit to Nuno for switching the wingers and asking them to play a bit narrower. Traore came to life and Neto... Well he can play anywhere along the front he's that good.

Fantastic second half from Neves too. Brilliant all action performance. Cool as a cucumber penalty as usual again. Takes him up to joint second top scorer.
