Southampton 1-2 Wolves. Verdict Thread

Hadn't had a proper look at the Dendoncker incident until just now but looking at the video on here, https://www.skysports.com/football/southampton-vs-wolverhampton-wanderers/429074, there's a replay at 2:22 that shows a good angle from the back post as the cross comes in.

To me that looks very much like Dendoncker's arm is hanging out to the side of his body and making his silhouette bigger that it would be, also appears to hit him around the elbow rather than further up above the t-shirt line and without that contact the ball probably goes through to the unmarked Bertrand at the back stick so could see Southampton being pretty aggrieved with not getting that one.

It’s just so weird - the ball comes a long way, no deflections - the Southampton guy does duck, so makes it a little bit more tricky, but why on earth is he trying to head it at that height? Shocking attempt at defending tbh.

It's one of them, 9/10 the soton guy does something positive with it rather than just ducking out the way. Donk anticipates the header and tries his best to adjust when the header doesn't happen.

I'd be fuming if we hadn't been given that

Yeah, he's definitely flicked his arm out chicken wing style, and it's hit him just above the elbow. I thought the whole tee-shirt line thing was meant to eliminate the stuff that maybe shoulder, but it's nowhere near that.

I think it's utterly bizarre defending (from someone who's becoming an increasingly strange player) but it's up for debate.

I don't get the furore about the Bertrand one though. That is handball. I get the statement sometimes when they say "where are your arms/hands meant to go". As like the Kilman one. That one though? Well, not fucking there unless you're constantly asking teacher a question, it's hand fucking ball.

What did everyone here think of Paul Butler's handball in the play off final? Pretty similar penalty to the Bertrand one given against us 18 years ago.
Massive Difference, Butlers arm goes away from the ball, you could see a Genuine attempt to move his arm.

Bertrand had left his arm where it was when the shot was struck, it was not hitting him

Think the Donk one should be a penalty....even as just punishment for him bending down to head a ball by his bollocks while turning his head away so he can't see the ball

My take is is he is trying to duck down to get out of the way.

It is his reaction to the player in front of him moving. He isn't expecting that and then he just loses all control of his actions as he tries to react. All very odd and we were very lucky but fuck it, spent most of this season moaning about things going against us so its nice to have a break and let others have the complaints.

No doubt a shite call is heading our way and we will bitch and moan about until for hours on end

He's just a bit asleep at the back stick I think, not really expecting it to come all the way through to him so then when it clears the last man ahead of him he's got to try and react to it because he doesn't really know if it's safe to leave it or take a touch..

Totally agree with Tom Hark, how those twats behave on MOTD. Very annoyed with Ian Wrights stance on Southamptons "so called" penalty, which never was. And their behaviour at the end, WANKERS.

I'll wager Wright is just bitter cos we did the double over Arsenal

Poor cuddly Southampton didn't get a penalty. Boo fucking hoo.. :ROFLMAO:
I'll take that for all the shit decisions that have gone against us since VAR was introduced.

Mad how every team's fans think that media hates them, every pundit hates them, and VAR is basically invented purely to fuck them over
Last couple of weeks I've seen Arsenal fans suggesting that there has been a conspiracy against them by refs ever since Wenger joined because he is foreign and signed lot of foreign players and then more recently Liverpool fans suggesting corruption too :D

Is that the Liverpool who the year before VAR was introduced had more dodgy offside goals than Man United have had penalties since lockdown?

We have been done over more than most tbf.

- Boly "handball" at Leicester (not handball, they've changed the rules since)
- Jonny/Neto "offsides" ruling out a goal (they don't seem to check these anything like as much now)
- Sigurdsson offside at Everton that they didn't even bother checking (probably the biggest scandal of the lot of them)
- Kilman "handball" at Leicester (oh look, they changed the rules again afterwards, can we have our point back mister)
- Adama being booked for diving at Arsenal when he didn't dive
- Penalty vs Albion which was clearly outside the box

I might be forgetting some too.

Sure all clubs could put together a list but...

MGW not being fouled enough
Handball v Albion when he caught it (although if that was checked I'm 100% they would called a foul from Silva on the keeper)
